How easy is it to get caught up in reading all the magazines and books and trying to remember this and that ...than to just play the game naturally...
i find that when i just get up on the tee not think about if im standing the correct distance from the ball is my grip right am i aligned correctly i play better shots than if my mind is influxed with all the jargon...

If you use swing thoughts, you need to find one to suit for the way you are swinging on the day and stick with it. If you start thinking about technique on the course its a recipe for disaster. Take it from one that knows.

If you have a solid pre-shot routine, it will help as each shot is approached in the same way. Its how you pull the trigger from there and whether you focus on your swing thought or key move or whether you trust your swing and fire naturally.

I've tried to keep to my routine and then trust my swing wherever possible. My thought being that I've worked hard at the range and with my pro to get it into a semblance of a repeatable action and that once I'm on the course it's the place to let it work (or not). Changes can always be made later.

I think the closer you get to the green, the more feel (providing the technique is solid) and natural visualisation becomes essential. You don't want to be standing over a 6 footer on the 18th for a win wondering if your left wrist is cupped at a specific angle but you want to be feeling and seeing the shot.

I make it a point not to read the "instructional" section of any golfing mag before I go out for a game.
Too many thoughts can enter your head.

Mind you. I could have done with one yesterday
