Close range putts say 8 feet and in, pretty good. Long range, say 30ft plus also not too bad. But anything in between I just can't get right. The vast majority end up short, quite often leaving a very missable putt instead of gimmee distance. Then when I deliberately hit it harder it shoots past the hole ending up in a different post code!
Really annoying and resulting in too many 3 putts.
What range putts cause the most problems for everyone?

The biggest problem I see is people pushing the putter through, rather than treating it the same as a normal shot. I always try to hit up with the putter ( sounds odd but gives me the feeling I'm looking for). I'm good at seeing lines of a putt but poor at getting the ball all the way to the hole ( I like the ball to just drop into the hole). I find if I concentrate on hitting up with the putter I'll at least get the ball to the hole

long putts on fast greens at the minute. i was a few inches on the green the other day and elected to bump a 7 iron instead of putting. it gave me a better chance of making the par.

i nearly putted off the green at bolton old links 2 weeks ago. thats how bad the long putts have got. ;(

Tricky six feet downhill left to right putts are the worst for me. I've now adopted the strategy that if you're going to miss them then you should get it over and done with quickly.

Any and all putts for me! I rush and don't read greens well, have no distance control and less accurate than a monkey with a gun. Monkey with a putter maybe... It's all confidence for me, if I hole an early one I usually go on to putt better.

Mine tend to be a putt where the gardient past the hole changes.

I'm normally quite good with my distance control, but when the hole is cut just before a down slope I struggle to get it to the hole (For fear of going off down the slope). Anything up hill after the hole I struggle to get it past the hole for fear of a slippery one coming back.

I like to call it a professional leave

Had an absoute 'mare on the greens today. Much quicker than they have been and I could not get the pace for anything, short, mid or long. I simply didn't have a clue how hard to hit the ball until about the 13th. 39 putts with 6 3 putts.

I have been hitting 10-15 footers a good three feet past recently. The greens suddenly seemed to change and quicken overnight. Played on Maidenhead's greens which were arguably quicker (about 9 on the stimp) but seemed more paced. Ours seem to be about 8.5 now but vary from green to green. I am just trying to get some feel on the putting green, trusting my read on the course and hoping I have the pace right

Try taking your practice strokes looking at the hole. It helps with distance perception.

I wouldn't say im a really bad putter I am just guilty of rushing it. I play alot of afterwork golf in and hurry to get 18 in... Maybe I should settle for 15-16 with as much effort put into iron shots as my putts...
