Play yesterday and was sitting on the 18th bench waiting to tee off when I saw a plaque on bench saying in memory of *********. Now this got me thinking that when I die would I want a big fat sweaty man or women sitting on a bench with my name on it. I mentioned this to my playing partners and we had a laugh about it when someone said. He would not mind that fit 19 year old sitting on him. Now how would you like to be rememberd at your course. Mayb a plaque next to the tee on the 2nd for me as this is the hole I tend to shank it on. In memory of Wayne a serial shanker.Views plz

I am not keen on benches. Eventually there will so many there is not enough room left for playing golf.

Why are memorial benches three seaters, when we play in fours?

because the cost for a 4 seater rises disproportionality due to the material scale increase required - ie people take one look at the costs and get a three!

I'd like to think I've lived my life fairly prejudice free... So in the unlikely event of someone bothering to organise a memorial bench in my name I'd like to think all would be welcome to use it...

We have quite a few memorial benches and trees at our place. I think they are a nice touch. Adding a bit of personality to the course and bringing back memories if you knew the person in question.
