what can i say..

As some of you know got a driver fitting on sat past there.

And got a big surprise when the mate told me to test the MD super strong against whatever driver i was going to buy and me being a PING fan of course i wanted the G15 and after hitting it around an avg of 240 yards i was happy enough and was fairly sure it was the club for me..

But then i tested the same setup on the MD super storng driver.. and it was coming in at a avg of 230+ yards. Could maybe have did better with it but was tired after nailing the G15 and a few other drivers..

And at 89 quid - 100 quid cheaper than the G15 it was job done and i have it in the bag now..

Anyone else got a view on the MD superstrong or anything else from the MD range for that matter?

Check my sig for the MD clubs in my bag. Absolutely terrific clubs at a price that must have MD making a loss. I simply cannot believe they can knock them out at such a low price considering the quality of the clubs.

Doesn't it make you wonder how they can make a quality club at that price when the so called big manufacturers think nothing of charging 4 times more for basically the same product? Q. Who are the fools? A. Us of course for buying them!

I see you have the 3 wood as well..

would love to try it out, however the guys dont carry them in stock so will have to take a chance if i buy it but at 60 quid i am sure it would bust the bank..

anyone after a G5 3 wood ;)

edit: @ drawboy, i know it might not be the case for everyone but i do believe hitting both G15 and superstrong with the same energy i know i could get the same yardage from it..

also i have been looking at the reviews on this driver online and i must say it does make good reading as well.

The three wood is a great little club, off the deck it's pretty good and off the tee it's great. The hybrid is simply the most useful club in my bag. Off the deck, off the tee, out the rough and even for some chips around the green. It's the best £60 I've spent since taking up the game. I can't really see how any other club can be worth the price premium over it.

my first set of golf clubs i bought myself was the md blackhawk irons, for "budget" clubs they are very good quality. I then added the 3 and 5 wood to the bag.

Dunno about the MD stuff. But when I got the Benross I tried it against a couple of top clubs ( Taylormade and Mizuno, if I remember ) and there was no difference in distance.

The Mizuno was £200. Which was fine.

The Taylormade was discounted down to £129, so it was really appealing.

The Benross was £50. The Grafalloy Prolaunch Platinum shaft is worth most of that on it's own. A Golf Pride grip is about a tenner.

So when I sell I might get a fair bit of that back as well.

Got a Norman drew gap and a players 58, great prices and spin like a spinny thing. I love the MD wedges and know of one guy who hits his MD a right old distance too.

i had my heart set on buying a new tm driver but was advised to try the md superstrong also

and to be honest i couldnt really notice a big difference
between the two and the md was 100 quid cheaper

the md has had a really good write up in todays golfer
im really happy with mine.im even thinking about changing my hybrid for a md.

I think it simply comes down to the fact that MD have minimal advertising and don't fork out fortunes on player endorsements. There have always been good quality budget sets (Petron etc) around but I'm as guilty as the next man for falling for the lure of an extra 10 yards or this sales pitch or that new radical design. Fortunately with the exception of my 3 and 5 woods which I'm still not 100% comfy with everything else in the bag stays

I love MD Wedges and have always had a soft spot for the irons but have always felt that Benross make better Drivers, Fairways and hybrids. Never tried their putters but with my recent putting woes it may be time to give one a go.

I have used MD golf for a while now and buy and sell a few clubs and try quite a few and they outshine any other brand at their pricepoint.

The Superstong wedges are terrific as are the new Seve razor ones.

The new SS hybrids have a beautiful build quality and are nail on straight hitters.

Miles better than Benross.

MD Wedges are super spinning spinny things - as for the rest of the kit, well, they just dont have the bag appeal. I feel somewhat silly saying that but I think its got to have some bag appeal - which is created by advertising - which in turn costs money :-(
