McLaren golf

They’ve seen what people are willing to pay for golf stuff and they want a piece of the action. I wouldn’t say they’ve put their best foot forward with the launch range.

The McLaren x Vessel bags are lovely, but so are all Vessel bags. And the Tour bag doesn’t appear to be available, which is also by far the best product they’ve showcased.

It's brave of Rose, but why shouldn't he.
What surpises me is that whilst some laugh at Mclaren for this, they forget Aston Martin also put out some golf clubs..;)

Re the price of the clubs being out of Tashyboys price brackets, and I suspect most people price bracket. I wonder how many golf clubs will actually have them in stock. 🤔

Hardly any clubs I know of these days stock clubs anyway regardless of brand. Big companies have all removed the buying power at normal Pro shop level. Tends to only be big stores or top ranges that have the ability to have a store such as an AG or Foremost etc as shop holder for stockists. I can probably name only about 2-3 clubs in my area that stock actual golf Clubs for fitting or resale and they’re the more affluent ones.

I’d imagine these will be more of a club champion/ specialist fitter stockist item where the higher money is spent anyway.

Don’t panic. In Phase 2, McLaren will be selling an SUV with a boot big enough to fit the clubs in.
They have amalgamated with 4-7 which was developing an electric SUV - same financial backing I think. So yes you’re right 🤣

But to get to the real nitty gritty these clubs have a huge profit margin. If they are smashing them out in a low cost forging factory they would have just had the cost of minor tooling. Then the steel prices will fluctuate a bit but that’s factored into the contract with the manufacturer… R&D costs, hard to say but not massive not really in excess of £50k as testing isn’t legislative .. my guess they are popping these out for £8-15 a head and the rest is shaft and grip costs plus shipping and advertising..

What they might not understand is if the manufacturing site isn’t controlled the material quality will drop and there will also be a back door for copies ..

Sorry for being pessimistic

You need to pop down to Chippenham, we have clubs in stock and a large selection of fitting options. We are also building a 3 bay indoor fitting studio with all the latest gadgets including putting fitting. We are certainly not in a more affluent area 😀

Interesting as the clubs around here are well stocked

Most club pros with contracts with certain OEMs like Callaway , Ping or TM as well as being part of groups like Foremost

There are also independent stockists that will have a good amount of OEMs

AF golf will just have the full range of OEMs

Must be area based , but I can say for certain all the clubs in the area I am with exception of the 2-3 more affluent ones they hold zero stock from a club Perspective. Balls, tees, the odd clothing item but that’s it. Our club has a deal with with Vice, for balls, clothing , gloves etc and they have a few clubs they can use to fit but that’s it.

My Club must be exceptional (members' club in the Midlands) as our pro stocks trial clubs, shafts, putters etc; for Ping, Callaway, Mizuno and Titleist.

The pro-shop business is not owned by the Club.

Have you tried Silvermere?
Bit of a drive but when they have sales on can normally pick up a few bits.
Generally have a decent selection of ladies stuff as well.
They have a driving range.
Have a bit of lunch while you are there.
That’s the wife’s birthday present sorted, you can thank me later
