that he is leaving ISM managment company (Chubby Chandler) to go to Horizon who look after GM playing editor Graeme McDowell (plus Ross Fisher, Gareth Maybin, Michael Hoey and others)

Interesting move

we also heard a rumour the other week Rory will be signing for Nike for 2012

That's a smart move by Nike if true. If the Tiger roadshow does grind to a halt, they'd have a cracking replacement.

Re the management change: On the one hand I think, he's going to make more money than he will ever need, WHOEVER he is with, so why change. On the other, I think you only get one career, so why not maximise the returns.

Seems harsh to jump ship from Chubby after such a good year, so I'd guess there's more to this than we will ever know.

I have a feeling its more down to him basing his life in the US more. Nike being more US than Europe aswell, he may well be their new poster boy unless Tiger sorts his game out

Rory Mcilroy PGA Golf 2012 ps3/xbox360/pc available soon ;)

I chose not to believe either of them because I hope they are not true.

Titleist to Nike.... what a downgrade!!!!

I drive a Ferrari but that Ford looks nice???!!!????

Wonder is it anything to do with his new woman ?? does Nike sponsor her does anybody know? , Strange decision to leave Chubby but i guess we will never know the real story , agree with Monty regarding earnings he will make more than he will ever need no mater who he's with , Chubby seems to have a more pesonal touch with his guys so i hope he doesnt loose that with Horizion.. guess he would have got alot of feedback from GMac so it must be a good move for him ..

Don't agree that it's a good move for him at this time. Certainly wouldn't go moving to Nike after playing Titleist allhis formative years. Someone has his ear and it doesn't look good IMO.

'Onward & upwards,' says Chandler. 'He has grown into an international figure & leaves us as a major champion. We wish Rory every success.'

Interesting move but judging by the body language of Chandler and Rory this week I would say it is amicable.

Why you think that DCB? is it just to Nike or is it to any other make? Surely Nike will set clubs up exactly the same as he had itl just have the Nike Logo on it , balls will be very close as not to mater to someone of his abiliy . I agree with you as i Dont realy see the point in him moving but im sure it has been well looked into ?

rumour on twitter ?? .... or someone has finally read the press release from Chubby.
story broke on twitter about 2 hours ago via Ali Tait of GolfWeek (and former GM deputy ed) and Brian Keogh of @IrishGolfDesk

Chubby press release being quoted on Sky was a response (obv pre written ready for when the story broke)

its ok, he still has DC, LW and Schwartzel et al so wont do too badly

I think it is quite respectful statement, or maybe referring to his own company not Mcilroy

I get the impression from what I've read about ISM is that they treat all their players equally and do not favour one player over another, and therefore won't stand in a players way if he wants to leave if they feel they can get more time and 'status' from another management company (which I think was the case with GMac who felt that ISM weren't going to deliver what he felt was best for him). I am pretty certain that his split with ISM was very amicable so wouldn't have thought it would be any different with Rory. Just hope though that Rory's head isn't being turned by all the success and adulation he's getting - he comes across as such a likeable and down to earth guy and would hate for that to change.

If someone was paying you a squillion pounds to drive one of these, you might be tempted:
