If he was only 4 or 5 under after round 3 the world would have been robbed of a 3 day golfing masterclass the like of which has not been seen since Tiger's win in 2000.

This was more than a win, it was the emergence of golf's new king.

Am sitting here drinking the first of many coffee's having sat up until 1am to finish watching what has to be one of the greatest 4 rounds of golf in a professional tournament. I don't care that I had to get up at 5:30am, I saw it all and it will stay with me for ever. Well done Rory, you were magnificent.

Fantastic what a naturally gifted golfer I love the fact that he learnt from the Masters, he tried to defend the Masters lead, here he stayed positive and aggressive

Absolutely delighted for Rory after what happened to him at the Masters - showed over the four rounds just what a class act he is. Also nice to see some of the interviews with the other players before he went off saying how good he is - get the impression that not only is he a great golfer, but a really likeable guy as well.

Just think, if all had gone well at August in April, we'd be talking about a Rory Slam this morning!!!

Well done again Rory.

Now for another 'home' victory in The Open! Everything crossed for Westy!

I do too and love watching him but I don't think the burning question has been answered with him having such a big lead at the start of the 4th round.

When he closes one out from 1 or 2 in front then the ghost will be banished.
