Don't know whats up with him? He will have a decent 5-6 holes, with about -3 and then by the 15th he will be even again and finish above parr. Another £10 wasted. :(

Should never have changed his clubs.....who knows.

I remember some time last year he beat Tiger in a play-off. He was putting everything. Also the US OPEN last year i think he was 6 shots behind and came back to win.

I think he's in 'been there, done that' mode.

I don't think he expected to win a major, but then we went and done it.

So now all he needs to do is win a few quid here and there, and have a bit of fun. He proved at the Ryder cup that his mind is there when he's got the incentive, but he'll either get it back into his normal game at some point.

Or he won't.

Ask Paul Lawrie

Happens a lot when there's a change of club.
Plus form is a temporary thing - as said, either he'll be back....

Or he wont!!

I think it was always going to be hard to beat the last couple of years for McDowell. 2009 saw him rise up the rankings and last year was arguably a career defining one. Always hard to get that level again and inevitably there is more pressure on his time as well now. Chances are if he has a quietish year this year, maybe even slips back a bit he'll be able to refocus next year and kick on again.

Not sure if changing clubs is such a big deal as they are all made to measure and so should be perfectly set up for him. I think it's all about how much travelling he's doing now to play on all the different tours and in big events just taking its toll. Its happened to major winners before

Totally disagree. I dont think its anything to do with winning the major. Because there is no pressure when he's -3 PAR with 13 holes to go and he drops two shots? I can't remember the last time he played on tour without a double bogey?

IMO

That's purely coz his mental game isn't up to scratch.

And that is below his best because, atm, he doesn't have the drive to succeed he had before his major win.

Simples.

Another £10 wasted. :(

I wouldn't bet a penny on MacDowell. I can't think of any other golfer who's attitude is so variable.

and his swing...

and his putting...

his strength is GIR and scrambling.

I think he has alot more sponsorship /commercial responsabilities & commitments because of all the things mentioned ie..major champ .. ryder cup winning putt & new sponsors .. all these makes him a more wanted man & is new to him hence the game is struggling a bit , people blame or criticise tiger for been distant & hard to interview etc /but if you are too free with your time your game has to suffer , finding the happy medium between keepin sponsors happy & keeping the game sharp is the key & when gmac discovers this he be back near to his consistant best.. I THINK
