How do you mark your ball ? Do you not use a permanent marker so that if your ball is lost and found by someone else they may use it without any problem after cleaning? Or do you just mark the ball and think "sod anyone who finds this after me"?

Just asking like:)

Oh me.....I use permanent red pen:)

I play personalized Vice balls, so no I don't need to additionally mark my balls.

Sometimes this really pays off... One time, when I was warming up on the putting green before a tournament, someone came over to me and handed me one of my balls he found the other day... :)

Have some tin cups with a few generic shapes to use on them if I'm bored I'll use them to mark the ball.

Usually put freehand dots on 5 sides of the ball (as if it were a cube) with two over the numbers and the rest on clear area filling a dimple and then colour in the alignment mark on the ball. This usually means there is always a mark visible. I did get a stamp monogrammer for Christmas and used it to add BOB (with front B reversed) and it is actually really durable ink. It only stamps on ink, doesn't emboss the letters in like older ones.

One thing I always do though it use a range of colours. Got a big pack of fine sharpies and use most of them. This means I can put a different colour provisional in play and don't worry if the number is the same.

But do you think it inconsiderate to mark a ball with a permanent marker that cannot be cleaned off easily, for when your ball is lost, and found by someone else who wishes to use it?

I only ask because someone was moaning how inconsiderate it was to use a hard to remove marker on balls they had lost and he had found.

I use a red permanent marker and draw a smiley face on each and every one of my balls. So far I have had 4 returned to me:)

If it's that big an issue then he can alway go and buy some nice clean new ones and quit being a moaning bar steward.

If I played at their course I'd use sharpies and a cartoon phallic design. Wouldn't be the first time my balls have had balls.

That's hilarious, he's really expecting people to think about who has them after considering they've been bought and paid for?!

A simple OG on mine does the trick. I like to get seasonal however, and draw things that match the time of year, like a christmas tree at Christmas time etc!

I mark dots with sharpies. I bought them I mark them how I want, blow the person who finds them.
I've never been handed back one of my balls but have done it for others.
There must be plenty of mine to find. I've only ever found one of my old ones when searching for someone else's ball.

No, don't tell me. He's a social worker isn't he!

3 pink x's for me from my 3 children, in sharpie, if someone finds one I lose I don't care if they feel hard done by because the marker doesn't come of easily, buy some new like I do if you want to dictate your mark. I think you should mark permanent as if you don't and it comes off in the rain, how can you be 100% sure the ball is yours from the rough etc?

I have a stamp of the THFC cockerel, and a blue line for putting.

have had a few handed back to me by people I have played with who have found them on the course.

couldnt really give a toss about what anyone else thinks tbh

I have a selection on mini Sharpies and mark each new ball with a design as the mood takes me.

Call me bonkers but it's just the way I like to roll.
