I may well regret this at some point ascending a hill in the future but I have decided to bin the Go Kart and trolley bag and go back to carrying using a stand bag.

The reason for this is to de-clutter. I'm fed up with the setting up, the no room in the car, the forgetting to charge the battery, the having to walk miles round things on the course when I can now just walk straight over etc. I just want to arrive to play, grab the clubs and shoes and go.

All the excess stuff in the cart bag can go. Waterproofs, cereal bars, some balls, tees and water bottle can stay.

I am unlikely to ever play 36 in any comps now so I think lugging for 18 will be fine. My new job has a fair commute so evening golf is out and with 2 wee ones growing up I am not going to be playing anything like as much as I did.

Not sure where I'll put the skycaddie though.

Make sense or sheer madness?

Whatever, it is done now! New stand bag now on order :p

Well done that man!!! Carrying is the way buddy. I walk across greens and have no messing around going around them etc. Plus it's added exercise. I am always waiting for mates to assemble trolleys out of the car when it's easy just to throw the bag over the shoulder and go.

I can see the attraction Birdieman....

2 reasons I got rid of my electric trolley - forgot the battery/forgot to charge it and no room in the boot for clubs and trolley. With my PK Twinline 3 I can get it all in the boot so nothing's on show.
I probably would carry but my dodgy knees and ankle complain like mad if I do so I gave that up as well.

What bag are you getting?

I'll happily carry in the summer or if its raining and the waterproofs are on and staying on. Hate having to carry and pack the extras (towels, waterproofs water etc) on the off chance of showers or heavy rain and feeling like a sherpa and not a golfer.

I will carry during bounce games, however competitions, especially 36 holers I will use the trolley once I buy a new battery!

I have been having similar thoughts, the rest of my regular group carry and I feel the odd one out with the power trolley. I do not need to carry as many balls now and, to be honest, my bag has become full of unnecessary c**p. Last time I checked I think I had a set of waterproofs, a 3 quarter sleeve shower top, a sweater, a baseball cap, a beanie and about a dozen gloves in varying conditions in it. The idea of ditching all except balls, tees and waterproofs and carrying now seems more attractive.

im in two minds about carrying. I find I like to clean my clubs after I've played the shot so it's nice to carry and clean at the same time.
it does my head in when I use my trolley and you have to walk around all the ropes in the winter, plus when you've played your shot you can't really clean your club as well as you can if you carry.

in the summer I am different. I prefer my trolley as it's usually red hot and having to carry my bag around is just a nuisance.

I don't carry for the exercise, I carry for convinience and come the warm weather the need for convinience will have evaporated and the electric trolley will be out. :)

Good question, must have a transparent pocket cover or something to stick a logo into?

I'm sure I saw some tests or other that one of the Magazines did regarding excercise and carrying. I'm sure it made virtually no difference to the amount of calories burned compared to walking with a trolley but did make the testers more tired having the bag on their backs.

I've just started to carry again now after a few years of using my PK Twinline 3. I've just bought the Sun Mountain four 5, its a nice bag, comfy and plenty of room. Like the 14 way dividers and got some nice little perks.

Mind might change come summer time though.

I see no point in tiring myself out now that I've gotten used to having my clubs on a trolley, although I'm not going for the electric option until I'm a 12 h/cap that's really a closet 17 h/cap

i carry a lot but use pk for comps. i think youll find it fine maybe tire by 16 but ok. just my opunion but dont buy a callaway carry bag, i bought one and the pro had to change it 3 times the last one lasted a season.

Stu I had this conversation with Dodger at Goswick. I got the Freeway II and cart bag and am thinking of getting it on here for £400 delivered as I miss walking and carrying. I feel like I haven't played a good round since I got it.

I have only done about 8 rounds with the thing.

I always carry in winter, will always go back to the trolly in summer for comps though.

+1

The pencil bag always stays in the car boot in case I want to grab some holes of a summer evening too.

I've been carrying all winter. Quite enjoy it, it is easy to navigate the course, I've decluttered, dropped a couple of clubs that I don't use so often, and have been playing some good golf.

Was feeling a bit tired yesterday afternoon, it was raining, so I got the Go Kart out for the first time since November, it does make a difference. Will probably continue to carry for a bit, but as soon as the temperature starts to rise, the trolley will definately be back in play.
