Got my first handicap of 27 recently and played in the March and April medals scoring 105 and 104.
So currently 27.2
Came third in a 9 hole stapleford with 20 points inbetween.
Played in a stroke play competition yesterday and scored 51 on the front 9 and 47 on the back for 98, nett 71. Had I been able to putt this score would have been nearer 90, so very happy with my progress so far. First time I've played 18 holes with no disasters, 1 tripple bogey, rest double or less.

Targetting handicap 24 by the end of the season.

Good luck with the putting. It's funny as I used to be quite a good putter but have had a little dip since I've been giving myself more chances to score. No doubt Bob will unsubtly suggest you buy a v-easy ;) followed by Homer suggesting a lesson ;) but both bits of advice did help me with my stroke. What is hurting you on the greens? Long or short ones?

When it's my long ones I work on my distance control by putting to tee pegs/fringe and short ones I do the clock drill working around a hole putting from four feet.

Good luck and keeps us posted :D

In practice my putting is quite good. Yesterday I was underhitting everything and missed a few very short ones. Also didn't get a lot of luck, however my long game was solid, so will get a short game lesson with the pro and also work on the putting stroke.

You might be attaching your score to your putting saying "I need this to save par" or "if I miss this it's double bogey" putting too much importance on each putt. Try and treat every putt the same and just enjoy rolling the ball in the hole as often as possible.
