Looking at going down tomorrow to Portal MacDonald Hotel in Cheshire and getting a round in, was just wondering peoples opinions on the two courses?

Both good. Championship is the best though. Played it last week and it was great.

The one furthest from the hotel is a good knock...but very hilly I found.

The one based at the hotel isn't too shabby either with some great 'thinking' holes.

If you were only going to play one, play the one up the road.

I can't actually work out which one is up the road haha, was originally thinking the premier course as we are using our american golf free round, and it was £53 versus £20 for the championship but unsure which now.

The championship one is the one based at the hotel, the premier is 3 minute drive up the road and is definately the one to play - had a 3 round golf break there last month and found the championship one a bit bland

This.

The Championship is one of the plainest champ courses i've ever played, 2 or 3 good holes and the rest are bang average.

The Premier is a really good thinking course, the front 9 is a big challenge. 1,2 & 3 are easy enough holes but then 4-9 really are tough.

The back 9 is a bit easier but the last 4 holes really are great with 2 brilliant par 3's!
Greens are always in good nick!

Okay booked on the Premier can't wait now.

enjoy mate!
we're only 25/30 mins away from Portal and my mate gets a deal with his skycaddy, we normally get it for about £10 on a weekend!

make sure you play the 4th properly! Very tough hole!

Cheers mate. That is a bargain so I assume it's one of those places where nobody ever pays full price? Still feels like we've saved £106 though! From reading the reviews think I am in for a high score haha.

it's a purely corporate course mate as most of the Macdonalds are, the Premier has a bit more of a members feel to it than the championship and a lot friendlier.

Keep the ball straight and you'll be fine because it's not the longest by all means. The first 4 on the back are good scoring holes!
