Macclesfield Town

4200 to see Might Macc close out the season with a 2-0 win!!!! The club have put out a few banners around the town proclaiming their amazing season. Well done MTFC!

Would like Tranmere (they bring loads for away games) to follow us up and Morecambe to stay up. (Nice trip to the seaside)
 
It seems to be all down to the owner who appears to be hanging on to the club as it is his only asset left. It's all rather sad. I cannot see anyone being stupid enough to step in and rescue the club.
 
And on the same day as all the lower league clubs are screaming for Government handouts, Wolves sign a full-back for $37M. Not criticising Wolves specifically but it does really sum up football.
 
Clubs like Wolves don't need spectators because of TV rights and sponsorship. Their ground is not even good for watching a game, the seats being about half a mile away from the pitch.
Either like me you watch non league in person (level 7 and below in England) where any restrictions hardly apply, or you watch PL and FA Cup on TV.
For the time being that is the future, so watch your local non league team. It's friendlier, it doesn't cost the earth and it's even entertaining.

Beware this bit. I've seem MTFC when we were shocking and almost dropped out of the old Conference. Good Lord we were bad. The other bit of the sentence is correct though. (y)
 
I'm not quite sure how so many clubs, lower league, are managing to function. They must have some very amenable banks working with them. With minimal obvious income coming in and no sign of this changing it is pretty ominous.
