If covered elsewhere apologies please refer. This is a question regarding WHS procedures for handicapping golfers off 3. With the WHS and introduction of H.I.s, some ex 3 handicappers, from different club or the same club, may now have H.I.s lower or higher than 3 but may still have the same course handicap when playing in a comp. When does a golf club handicapper have to refer to the county union regarding scoring for low handicappers. Could someone point me to the current guidance. Thanks

Refer for what reason?

You used to have to refer to the county when transferring Cat 1 players into the club on CDH and also even giving a HC in Cat 1

But I believe that’s all gone now

Yes but he's referring to the changeover of handicapping systems with regard to a few players who haven't moved anywhere.
Ah ok - I’m not sure what other reason to speak to the county - thats the only reason I ever went to them. I know you could go to them for handicap adjustments at AR time ?

There is now no special treatment for low handicap golfers however there is a new description. Elite Golfer which is defined as a man with a Handicap Index of 0.0 or less and a lady with an Index of 2.0 or less. I think that only the County is able to make an adjustment to an Elite player's handicap.
(I posted the definitive information in another thread and now have forgotten my exact words. :unsure:o_O)

Thanks.
Looks like my county were ahead of the game on that one, the only 2 screw ups left to rectify were done by them ?

Are you approaching a more accurate HI now ? Or still a mess ?!

rulefan, Thanks. That was the information I was after. I think the special treatment was for CONGU handicaps of < 3. So now replaced and only for Elite Golfers. If you can remember the thread where your previous posting was please advise and I will read up. Thanks all.
