Just doing exactly the same as I am in the same situation.

Quick question please, I am a 44 chest and a 36 waist which are both the maximums on the large "L" fitting.

Do I go with large as it allows for your size or do I club up to XL which I am afraid could dwarf me!

Same sizes as me. The large trousers will be fine for you. I initially ordered an XL jacket, but it was enormous on me so sent it back for a Large instead and it fits perfectly.

Thanks Fundy - great spot. I actually looked at this a couple of days ago and favourited it....price was £149 so couldn't believe it when I clicked on your link and saw the price at £69.99. It's ideal for me as finding trousers in the 35" leg lenth isn't easy!
