I've signed up to do his with our captain next June in aid of his charity next year (Multiple Sclerosis). I'm interested to hear from anyone else that has done this - I've played 36 holes around Sunningdale a couple of times and found that quite tiring, although the courses there can you beat you up a bit, they are a bit longer than my home course, and it was around 30 degrees. Hoping that playing my home course will be a little easier...... I'm reasonably fit but wondering how you found it during the day. Did you do any specific training? Do you need to do any specific training? Any tips recommended to get through it? Any ideas to raise extra cash other than just general sponsorship?

I played in it this year and will be entering again for 2016.

It is a tough day, I played 2 away courses, Orton Meadows and Thorpe Wood, 36 on each.

My only tips are fluid, food and sugar!

I did it last year....was brilliant fun. I don't think specific training is needed, but obviously upping your walking so you're generally fitter is a good start. My course is just a smidge over 6000 yards off the yellows so not majorly long, we teed off at 5:15 and did the first 36 holes in 5 hours. Then had to wait until 12:30 for round 3 as there was a society out...that round took us 4 hours which was a bit of a drag but the course was clear for round 4 which we did it around 2 and a half hours.

My tips are:1. start as early as humanly possible
2. eat and drink little and often (try a swig of drink every 2 holes)
3. don't look for lost balls, just get on with it3. make sure you have at least 1 change of clothes (especially socks).
4. have a shower and a proper lunch if you possibly can
5. at least have an electric trolley, else get someone to drive your clubs around in a buggy whilst you walk it
6. just have fun, its a laugh not a serious scoring comp

Done it for the last 3 years - Great fun, but quite tiring! That 1st pint afterwards tasted so sweet!

top tips would be -

1. Bring at least 2 pairs of shoes to play in, and 4 pairs of socks. I always felt my shoes (as comfy as they are) became less comfortable after 36 holes.
2. Plan to have at least an hour at lunchtime for food and drinks, and try get a shower in as well
3. Dont play in turn, first ready to take a shot do it!
4. Bring plenty of balls, as has been said before, dont bother looking for lost balls.

and finally..enjoy it and feel proud for raising money for a special cause!

Not much more I can add other than pack some energy bars, water etc and keep hydrated
