Lockdown and booze

not wanting to offend but I find it almost sad that a person "has" to drink at home because the pubs are closed or just drink to get through the day.
I'm only looking at this from my point of view but I've never understood "the need" to have alcohol.

From my point of view, it is not a need but rather an enjoyment in the same way that a cup of black coffee is heave in the morning, a cold can of coke is great when it is hot and I am thirsty and a beer or a glass of wine is great when I get home from work on a Friday. I never need an alcoholic drink (I know from close experience what that looks like and that is why I never drink Monday-Thursday, to prove to myself that I am not going down that road) but I do find one enjoyable at the right time. This, like anything, involves a lot of social media bravado at the moment.

I have not had any booze for almost a year now. feel great for it! Although I do now have a thing for coke zero....
