Lionel Messi - Record haul

All ifs and buts though isn't it.If Shearer had gone abroad would he still be hawked about as the great he does or the workman like striker he actually was?

I don't "hate" it,I just find it terribly over rated, all you hear about is how today's game is going to always be a belter as there are a pile of unbelievably talented players performing in it only to be awfully disappointed when you are served up a bore fest of a nil nil complete with dreadful defending, misplaced passing, players controlling the ball off their shins and referees whom are hopeless yet at the after match studio inquest all you hear again is how wonderful a game it was.

A prime example of this was Swansea v Liverpool recently,2 terribly mediocre teams serving up a pish game yet the Sky studio still had a chugg fest after it.

And a bit like La Liga you have 2 teams way ahead of the rest then another league of maybe 6 then the rest are as poor as each other with the exception of maybe 2 at the foot of the table.

Greatest League in the World? Yer having a laugh.

You know what dodger, I agree with a lot of that. Sky do over-hype English football, but they over-hype everything, let's face it.

However, it is easy to give the EPL stick after every crap game. Every league has crap games, though.

However, I don't take up the argument with you much about whether it's the best (although define best). It is the, or one of the most exciting ones though. Yes there may be lots of mistakes, poor defending, control etc. I'd rather have that though than technically perfect players, such as in Italy, who have tactically perfect games of strategy, but so boring to watch.

It depends on what floats your boat. The winners of the prem has been a virtually 2 horse race for the last 10 seasons, admittedly, but there are lots of unusual results along the way, which is the reason so many multipe bets go down each week.

Maybe you should start doing your multiple bets on the Spanish/Italian league games - maybe more predictable.

Look at tonight!

Looking at Messi's record he has basically scored 43 goals in half a season twice and regardless of the opposition he's still had to finish them. That is sublime.

As for which league is the best, I'd say at the minute the Italian league is better for the amount of good teams in their league. Even in la liga there's still rubbish games in theirs as we have the likes of stoke v reading etc.

As for sky, I hate that lot with a passion. They sensationalise everything and they think football never existed before 1992.

Serie A is awful.

The standard has dropped vastly from it's peak. Juve are the stand out side and really aren't anything special. AC Milan and Inter are embarrassingly bad by their high standards. Almost every game is played at grounds with ten thousand plus empty seats. The clubs are skint.

The Premier League is genuinely the best league in terms of a complete package. It'll get stronger aswell from next season with the Sky money almost doubling and the sides raiding Serie A, La Liga and the Bundesliga.

La Liga is decent and its nice to see Atletico doing so well, although we all know Real will hunt them down and eventually finish 10 points above them. Falcao will be off to England very shortly no doubt.
