Ok Ok you've convinced me that I should have a go at this Links thing!!
Problem I've got now is where?
Can't be too expensive
Can't be more than a couple of hours away from Aylesbury/Oxford
Has to be a proper links.

Any ideas?

I was going to suggest Royal St Georges until I saw the price.. :D
I just don't get it.....no mention of twilight rates, just "kerching"....£140
Royal Cinque Ports....£100...a bit better
Maybe North Foreland....(is it a real links??)
Try this

£40 twilight/afternoon....got to be the choice for the value conscious.

I love Bude and as far as links courses go is pretty fair. If you can make your score on the opening 6 holes and protect it over the middle section the last few holes give you a chance to finish in style. From what I remember its not overly expensive and the welcome is always good and the clubhouse in good order.

Its a bit of a journey for you either way Imurg, all I can say is, if you are willing to travel Bude is well worth a punt,Nefyn wales is too, there are a couple of lesser quality ones near me but still good courses...Sandilands and Seacroft, most of the top ones I know are up in Scotland and really if you have the time to take a Golf Holiday up there one year it would be worth it. ;)

Bude.....BUDE!! :D might as well get a lift in one of these

I know a man, but it'll cost ya.

Could do it in under 20 minutes door to door (if you can land on a par 5!!)

Best bet is to travel to mine (2 hours) and we'll head over to the Welsh links riviera in this

and swing a cheap twilight deal ('coz I need it, honestly guv')

14 hour day-trip, but hey, better than Kent.....

Hayling.....now there's a course.

Not exactly true links though....and pricey.

HOWEVER I do know someone who knows someone down there, that's where my outlaws hack up the turf.

I guess you could try Lydd as its cheap but not a true links course and pretty pants on the back 9 (13-16 anyway). Otherwise I guess its a case of looking on the internet and seein if there are any good deals going anywhere an perhaps trying to get a weekend or overnight pass.

Littlestone...

Proper links, (Open qualifying course)
Not too expensive, lovely greens, you'll need every shot in the book around there.
And I'll give you a game if you want.
Only problem....twoball only
;)

Edit. Just noticed that fourballs are allowed on Wednesdays after 9.30am. That's new!!

DO NOT BOTHER WITH LYDD. IT IS A DUMP.
