After having three rounds over 100 and getting very frustrated decided to take Birdiemans advice to Richy and try and play for level 5s.

Low and behold shot 89 today, course managment was alot better today (not normally a strong part of my game)so i would say to anyone trying to get below 100 listen to the BIRDIEMAN :)

My bruv Golfmadd also told me to do this have to ask him if hes been taking Birdiemans advice as well.

Its great when it all comes together. Level 5's is how I learned as a junior. The first was a par 3 (long mind at 220ish) and the second was SI 2 and a long par 4. I always figured that if I got a four at the first and gave it back at the 2nd it was a good start and then gave me room to play with on the next few holes

Well done!

Call me an old git, but I never got into the level 5s idea;
I might play the long par 4s as par 5s but I'm not keen on 5s on par 3s.

It doesn't really mean this though does it? (No, Dave) it means not blowing up trying to make impossible 4s and accept 18 holes x 5 shots = 90.

89 eh? tasty..... :)

Richy, Tiger good luck on sunday.

Course management is the way to go,i found the hardest thing was not to go for the greens with my third shots that had hazzards before them on the parr 5s.Before i would have gone for it with a success rate of around 4/10.

I had to keep telling myself not to go for it when approching the shot, not saying im going to do that all the time just going to wait till i start playing more consistantly.

Well done Bruv, I knew you could do it.

I kept telling him guys, but did he listen, yes he did - eventually. It's the exuberance of youth!

I haven't broken 90 in a comp yet but it's definitely coming this year - level 5's and plus a good tip from Smiffy. "Make the 150yd markers your friend. Aim for them and you're never far out"

Good luck to all who are trying to break 100 and 90, go for it! :cool: :D :D :D

Golfmmad.

I have used this method for a long time, hence my username.
I am now trying to play to 4.5 a hole at my home course but it doesnt have the same ring. Away from home I revert to 5's.

keep it up
