Levein.....AGAIN

Lars Lagerback.....great shout Dodger

Thats the type of manager I would like to see given a chance instead of the usual merry-go-round of Scottish managers who have done nothing really in terms of success at either European or International management.

He applied last time yet they went for the clown. After the last 2 they need to get this right but I think I would be right in saying that 99.9% of us have no faith in them appointing anyone bar a Jeffries,Williamson type. The fact they have overseen the mess that is our national game fills me with dread when I think about who they may appoint.

I was a bawhair away from going to Brussels....thank christ I am not.

Oi!!! Jeffries doing a great job at East End with a team of young Scots who cost basically nothing.

I know what you mean though and thats my exact thoughts. If and when Avril gets the boot/walks I fully expect the SFA to spin the merry-go-round of journeymen managers and whoever it stops at gets the job.

Time for someone new and unexpected to shake up the whole of the Scotland set-up and get the players playing to the levels they do for their clubs, as I said last night we have a decent squad there and should be at least really pressing for qualification and not being dead and buried in the group after 3 matches against the weaker teams in the group.

Good decision on giving Brussels a body swerve I would say

The only good thing the SFA have done for years is appoint Wotte who's, from what I hear, doing a great job at Youth level but there is still a lot to be done to join things up from there up and that is why I feel an appointment of someone with experience of this is crucial for us to progress as a nation.

The only thing I am regretting about not going to Brussels is the drink but after my recent trip to Oktoberfest my liver is still drying out and if I had went I would have needed to get seriously rubbered to ease the pain of seeing us getting humped!!

Levein surely has to go now? 2 points from possible 12 is too poor, if any of us did our jobs to that standard we'd get the boot too I think.

Must be our worst attempt at a qualification campaign EVER.

Fed up hearing about all the good stuff he's done behind the scenes, getting the structure in place etc etc. Fine - let him keep a backroom admin job and get somebody in that knows how to manage a team!

Belgium were great: comfortable on the ball, good basic skills, pressing the opposition, trying to play the beautiful game. I hope they get to Brazil and do their supporters proud.

Scotland were woeful. Lucky to only lose by 2 goals. Unable to pass or dribble. Lacking in confidence. Sitting back and not harassing the opposition.

Is this all Levein's fault? If we get someone else (e.g. Strachan) is the team suddenly going to become better?

We all know what the problems are but does anyone have any solutions ?

Surely you didn't expect to get anything tonight. Damage done in first game and loss to Wales. He does seem one dimensional and I guess its like having McClaren in charge for us

It was never about tonight. Belgium are better than Scotland every day of the week. In all honesty I don't think the SFA have the balls to sack him.

Guys like Smith and McLeish were more successful in recent years with (probably) a lesser pool of players. Not saying they did brilliantly but at least they gave Scotland a tilt at qualification. Not advocating bringing either of them back but it shows it's possible.

This was as easy a group as we could possibly have hoped to get and we're bottom. Belgium are looking like developing into a good side but they're no Spain and they have just played us off the pitch. Levein is clueless and now statistically one of our worst ever managers, the worst in my lifetime.

Tonight was a formality and as has been said many times all the damage was done in earlier games that we should really have done better in.

Its not even the results, its the manner of them. For a Scotland team to meekly surrender points at Hampden against teams like Macedonia and Serbia is unforgivable. I certainly dont expect Scotland to beat these teams easily but I expect the manager to put a team out to try to win the match and not a team that tries not to lose, I also expect the players to run their hearts out for the country and to fight tooth and nail for every ball but I just dont see that under Levein.

Maybe its the players fault, maybe they just dont care enough about international football due to their pampered lifestyles and highly inflated wages at their clubs and Scotland just isnt that important to them.

Whatever it is and whoever is to blame, something needs to change very soon

I don't think they can afford to.

Val they cannot afford NOT to.

Estonia at Pittodrie will not reach 10k.

Wales in March will not reach 25k.

Avril is a dead man.He has been an utter disgrace of a manager and he has stumbled from one balls up/disaster/astonishing amount of bullcrap coming out his gob to the next.

I am done travelling to watch them until that prick goes and if Smith gets the nod I'll still be done.

He has an abysmal record and has only beaten, and sometimes by the skin of our teeth, god awful sides.

The SFA need to grow a set and I firmly believe that due to financial reasons thankfully their had will be forced.

See Stuart Regan has refused to comment whether Levine will be in charge for the next game or not when interviewed by SSN .. its for the board to decide , we have to sit down & discuss it ..

Sounds ominus id say ..

Joe Jordan mentioned by Charlie Nicholas ?? thoughts

Is it April 1st?

I'd take Eck back or Billy Davies or Strachen!

Charlie Nicholas should keep out of it, he usually sits in the Sky studios ripping Scottish football to shreds and only shows an interest when its for his own benefit.

Absolute idiot of a man who's opinion should be discounted the second he opens his mouth.

We need to get away from this idea that the new manager, if indeed the SFA do the right thing, has to be Scottish. I would rather see someone get the job due to their previous successes at management rather than basing it on how good a Scottish International they were.

If the position becomes available we need to look hard at the credentials of everyone who applies and base the judgement on that and nothing else and if that person is English or Outer Mongolian then give them the job. Now is the time to do it to give the new manager a couple of years to work with the squad before the qualification starts for the next Euros.

Yep Bertie was a disaster but a lot of that can also be attributed to players, he didnt have anywhere near the strength of squad we have now, plus he was a bit of a mentalist:rolleyes:. Some of the worst players ever to be capped for Scotland were during his reign.

Lets wait and see who applies and take it from there, I dont think we need to experiment as im sure we will get a few quality applications with a proven track record.
