i know its an age old debate but should i consider lessons?
I only being playing now for 18months and currently play off 27. Ive never had a lesson and only taught my self by going to the driving range and copying peoples swings. That worked then i started to play and my mates helped me some more tips. On a good day im hitting low to mid 90's but never seem to do it in a comp always high 90s+. My biggest problem is consitency. I always think about getitng a lesson but then maybe i should try and improve a bit more till i get a lesson?

Ive recently changed golf clubs and not played in a medal or stableford yet as wanted to learn the course better but also im wondering will my handicap become inacctive and if so shall i just re do it as appose to trying to get it down in stages?

Over the last year i have replaced my origonal dunlop clubs with TM burner Irons and a callaway driver and a new putter and these deff seemed to help me, but now i seem to be just stuck in a rut of inconsistency

Hi Connor. I would say if you can afford the lessons then get them without hesitating.
I started playing 11 months ago and for 7 months of that i was hacking round the course playin to on average 24.
I went for lessons and my swing has been completely changed and am starting to play some decent golf to an average of say 14.
I would defo recommend getting the lessons.

100% yes. 2 years ago I wasn't capable of playing anywhere near a 36 handicap and now play off 14 and currently averaging around 10 over par. The ONLY difference has been regular lessons and without Paul I'd have given up this beautiful game as I was a pile of poop and hated it !

Not long been playing golf myself lads..thoroughly disalussioned lately unable to justify a 28 handicap never mind my hcap of 25........in April/May was getting low 90's but lately been doing as bad as 110-120.

So last week had my 1st golf lesson and it went quite well......wish I had done this 18 MONTHS AGO.

see my thread on it in ask the experts column.

I highly recommend you try lessons.

Cheers Kev

Lessons are a complete waste of time, money and effort unless you are able to practice the drills given to you by the Pro.
If you can't give the time then you're just giving money to the Pro because you won't improve.
The exception to this is for beginners, where learning the basics is going to stand you in good stead.
Time and again I've heard people say "I'm having lessons but I'm not getting any better" - that's because they don't practice the changes made.
I've not had any formal lessons. I'm a bad practicer.

Imurg:I will be putting in the time to practice when I can......and as far as the possibility of it being a waste of money, well my pro has said to me if he does not help me improve my golf he WILL REFUND MY COSTS....how good is that??!!..so it seems I cannot 'lose'......but God I so hope I never get a refund....lol.

I'm put the work in today but feel like I took a step backwards. However that is the nature of the beast sometimes when you make changes and its a question on working on the drills and not going back to old methods. I would say to anyone that even an hour swing MOT is money well spent as the little things can lead to bigger problems in the future. If you are still new to the game a series of lessons would be a must for me to get the basics. Once you have solid foundations you can really build a good golf game on them

As previously stated you have to commit to the changes that your pro will make, practise these and you will improve, dont expect over night success, put in the hard yards and you will get better. Good luck

Ideal thanks for all the replies... Shall deff look into booking some up soon prob e after Xmas now...
Is there anythin I should look for when selectin who are where to get my lessons from eg. Video swing etc? Or can anyone recommend someone in the Cornwall area?

Thanks
