I am getting to the stage where I would like to try and move my game along, so I am going to book some lessons, so I am after some advice.

Should I take my lessons now, when I may not be able to play every week and just concentrate on what I have learned? or should I take them in around 3 months time, when I should be playing once if not twice a week and try and adapt them into my game?

Now I would say. My constant battle (as is many others) is to try and get inside the ball and my pro said theres no way he would be trying to make that sort of change in spring / summer as the changes can be frustrating.

You need to get the lessons then practice whats been said on the range. On the course will just lead to a world of frustration:mad:

Winter always best time to make a change, means several months of practice out of season, and even playing through the changes on winter course where you have non qualifiers that dont mean a thing
Go for it.

Now, like me. I had my first lesson yesterday evening in order to lead me up towards the start of the Spring season. Although, be warned that it was @%&$*y cold on the range!

Do it now, worked hard on what you are told. Get your game in shape for the season, when the weather is nice is when you want to play your best golf.

This. You don't want to spend half the season getting to grips with any changes, only for them to sink in when the season and qualifiers are ending. Get 'em booked now! :)

Another vote for now. Get it done before the season starts and get out of the blocks nice and fast for the 2012 season. Personally I'd leave a 3-4 week gap to give myself time to really get to grips with any changes, the drills I've been shown and to maybe take it out on the course as well. that way if you are still struggling you can give your pro some decent and accurate feedback and he can tweak the way he approaches it for you. Its a 2 way street and a good pro should be able to adjust how he teaches so if you do feel you haven't got it theres no shame in going back and asking for another explanation.

On the plus side, if you pick it up early on and the drills and changes bed in nicely, perhaps bring the next one forward. I think as long as you don't try and change too much too soon you'll be fine. Keep us updated about how you get on

Had 6 lessons in October/November. Went from 21 to 17 handicap and having rounds of 80/81. Unfortunately those rounds were in December and mostly irrelevant in terms of handicap/competitions etc.

Do them now and you'll be playing awesome in Spring.

Definitely now. Take it from someone that has learned the hard way, leave it untouched and little bad habits will creep in unoticed and by the time the season is in full swing you will have a big problem on your hands. Get the lesson now and get the technique built up so it feels nice and natural then hit the GC running in the spring.

sorry to semi steal ya thread bout i thought beats making a new one. Just wondering does this look like a reasnable place to get lessons? they are a course near me. As the club i play at has a practice range so lessons i could only do weekends which is my only time for a round so thinking here purely for the range and they have a computer thing

6 for £100 if they are 1 hour lessons then it is quite cheap working out at around £16 per hor however if they are only 1/2 hour sessions then you are looking at around £32 per hour which is about the going rate I find. I pay £200 for 6 x 1 hour sessions. Go and have a word with them if you fancy it see what they say.
