Little review of my lesson with Jason.
I've had a few lessons since taking up the game. All have been at ranges off mats. Saturdays lesson was out on the practise ground off grass, wet grass! But any grass is better than range mats imo. 1-0 to Jason. However, the weather wasnt with us and we got absolutely pee'd on.
So after going through the pleasantries and the usual shot shape, bad miss questions, we got down to hitting some balls. What club I asked? To the reply of any you feel comfortable with. I choose an 8Although my stance was a little too narrow the rest of the gasp seemed to pass muster.
First few blows where a bit low on the face but perfectly acceptable. Then the fats came, and as id already pointed out to Jason they where the miss we spent the hour working on a drill to correct this. Hitting a 8iron of a pink castle isnt easy!! 5-1 ratio from tee to floor. After a while we tried the dreaded 5 iron, with varying degrees of success, some really good strikes, some not. although definatley an improvement as we went on.
Jason made the lesson easy, constantly asking about feedback on shots and understanding really well my gobbledegook replies (how apt if ive spelt that wrong!) Giving simple tips and trying to remove unnecessary swing thoughts.
His after lesson service maybe his strongest point, it seems he actually wants you to bother him at all times of the day with questions and queries and tips. This ive not come across before. You also get an email off him, re what you went through on the lesson etc... He also mentioned a 1-1 website page thing which im sure he can tell you more about.
Not sure if jason uses any technology ie trackman/gc2, we simply never had the weather for it.
I'll defiantly be back in a month or so, to see where im at.
Cheers.
Ps £15 first hour++ long lesson, what have you got to lose??
Had the pleasure of a lesson with Jason this morning. His teaching philosophy is very simple and easy to understand. On reflection, it reminded me about something I read on John Jacobs. Basically, look at the flight of the ball and work back from there.
We talked through my game and what issues I had and worked on some drills to straighten out my ball flight. By the end I was striping 4i's down the practise ground at Didsbury GC with remarkable consistency. Jason then kindly gave up an extra half hour of his time to do some pitching with me, again with great results.
I realise the hard work starts now for the season but the couple of things I took away from today were already really encouraging ...... in fact, I was buzzing after the lesson.
So, given the kind offer for forummers, anyone in the area thinking about getting a lesson before the start on the season should look no further.
Jason - just thought i would say that its great your offer on here and hope the guys take you up on it.
Hopefully you can find time to join us at H4H event this year
are you still playing competitively this season Jason? Still on europro or similar?
I am looking to play as much as I can, mostly through PGA events in the North West to start with and maybe in the latter part of the season some Europro if I can.
