Mobile phones - bane of my life. On my weekly commute from Manchester to London I sit in the quiet zone for the peace and quiet. Signs everywhere tell you it's the quiet zone, announcements tell you it's the quiet zone but on every journey without fail either a couple of phones start ringing or someone answers it and has a loud conversation - usually starting with the words "Can't talk long, I'm in the quiet zone". Is it a sense of self importance that they can't be unavailable or is it just pig ignorance?
On the golf course my mobile is switched off. If you're waiting for an emergency/urgent call coming through then don't go out on the course for 4 hours!
I've thought about the blockers but unfortunately it's illegal in the UK. Oh, and I work for a Telco.
Totally agree with you, Lee. Total pig ignorance is how I see it which is why you still see so many people driving and using a mobile phone at the same time. Same goes for using them in restaurants, cinemas and theatres.
Tiger Woods was asked recently about on course distractions such as people taking pictures and he just said these things do happen but why not just turn the sound effect off? Simples.
