Last minute city breaks.

As @GreiginFife says, Sevilla is great for a weekend break, as is Granada. Sevilla is 4.5hrs away for us, only been once but would definitely go again. Granada is 2hrs away and we’ve been 5 times. The Alhambra takes around 3hrs minimum, and book tickets in advance.

Temperatures in southern Spain in mid Oct are well into the 20’s. Sevilla is known as the frying pan of Europe. It’s beyond hot in summer. It was 48* when we were there in Aug, and it reached 51* a few summers back.
We are going to Cadiz and Sevilla for a week in Sep. We spent a day in Cadiz last year on a cruise and really want to go back to see it properly. As we fly into Sevilla, it is easier to spend the 2nd part of the week there as it is an early flight back.

Is it simple to get between the 2 places by train? I seem to think I have seen something about needing to pre book as trains are always full?

From what I remember, trains run very frequently. Our friends were on that route last month. Yes, it’s busy. I’d always book. Try and avoid rush hour - don’t forget, that includes the train just after 2pm. Renfe have their own website but it’s clunky - be patient. Alternatively, you can use trainline.

Szczecin is a great place to visit in Poland. Ryanair fly there for about £20 each way, we stayed in the Novotel in the centre of the city for only £40 a night. We went to the best restaurants in town for only £20 a head including drinks and dessert. There are lots of sights, spas, microbreweries too, and you are not far from Berlin on the train. It also has Binowo Park Golf Club, one of the best courses in Poland.

Poznan was fantastic a couple Of years ago. Hopefully the historic square is now finished as it was a building site. Biggest problem was WIZZAIR fly there. Avoid like the plague.

Reviving this as I’ve won rock, paper scissors so we’re off somewhere in the second weekend of October.

Anyone been to Malta, especially Valletta? Seems to look very Italian(ish) and looks to be around 24* that time of year.

Other recommendations welcome and we are currently looking at some already suggested.

I’ve tried the vegas card…. Crapped out!!
A few years ago we stayed in an all inclusive hotel in Bugibba and used the local bus to get to Valletta. Easy to walk around apart from one steep hill, interesting fort and harbour, excellent seafront. Went in September and the weather was great.
