They don't work in fog
They don't work round corners
They don't work in over hills.
They don't work coz it's windy.

Sonocaddie all the way.

Until Woburn that is.

I played with Richard and Captain Caveman who both had the laser things and I must say I was very impressed. They both seemed to do a good job.
Good for picking out fairway bunkers and dog leg angles and obviously the flags.
So next of course......which one ?

Maybe I can talk Mr Murgatroyd into buying a new one ;)

Think Range finder are better for lower handicap players where exact measurements to flags are a big advantage. GPS devices are great but not a huge advantage to lower handicappers.

am currently about to add a laser, tried the nikon and didnt get on, much preferred the bushnell V2. Am tempted to wait for the pro1m which I believe comes out in April, gonna be dearer but should have better optics, magnification and hence be slightly easier to use for my shaky arm lol

Which Mr Murgatroyd were you referring to Bob

I have a new Hillman and Imurg has a V2 tour, both happy with our respective purchases :)

Fragger

Tour V2 down to £219 at Snaninton and in my (biased) opinion is the one to get.

Might be worth hanging on as the new Bushnell range comes out there might be a few deals.....

Got a Leupold GX 2 from stateside.. pretty good.. ready out of the box, and finds distances in secs. Now for the easy bit of fixing the swing to take advantage of the knowledge.

I taught you to use the Bushnell V2 so go with that. Don't want to confuse yourself too much

As a Skycaddie owner can someone explain to me the advantages of a Laser range finder over a GPS system?

Much appreciated!

I use a GPS but some of the greens at my place are hooooge and quite difficult to gauge the distance to the pin, with a laser you would have the exact distance to the pin not front/middle/back.

Much more accurate for a start! I have a GPS, I was about 3 yards short of the green on my home course and it said 25 yards to the front. I contacted the company and they said they would remap the course. I heard back from them a cou[le of weeks later asking me to download it again which I did. This time it read 17 yards to the front from the same place.

My laser is accurate to 1 yard.

If you can see it, you can laser it and get a distance (providing it's not over the range of your laser)
From that I take it- If you can't see it you're fecked. I would rather know the distance to the centre of the green than the hill in front of me or the copse of tree's in front of the green. Just too many cons for a rangefinder IMO.
