Just having a look on our website re scores from yesterday and had a look at the junior scores. One lad ( who won 😳 ) had a reduction of 8.4 and had an exceptional reduction of another 3 that's 11.4 in total.

Anyone else know of owt closer.

edit to say in Feb he was off 45, now 21. Al bet the sombrero is down to his nose. :whoo:

The best I managed in one round was -2.7 after I scored a gross 79 playing off 17 at my current club (par 72). Actually, thinking about it, when I took up golf again after a 15 year lay off from the sport, I was initially given a 28 handicap after submitting 3 not very good cards, but that was quickly reduced to 18 after I scored a nett 58 in my first medal at a par 68 course. I had been much lower than that as a teenager and my game was starting to come back after a bit of practice! So that was 10 shots in one go! :)

I came down from 15 to 12 in two consecutive weekends. I think one was 1.5 and one was 1.3 or something like that, was off 13 for barely a week!

I lost 3.2 in one round earlier this year! 11 under my handicap (3 over gross) 2.2 and 1 for exceptional scoring. dont think i have shot near my handicap since! lol

Must have been the Cisco Kid or his mate Pancho

I went from 19 - 14 in two weekends earlier this year. Had another 1.3 cut two weeks ago, still trying to work out how to play with 6 shots missing from cupboard.......

when i first started back in the 70`s i shot 11 under for one round and was cut 5 shots ,from 22 to 17 ,thing was it was a 36 hole comp so had to play the second round off my new h/cap ,i still shot under my new h/cap but couldnt be cut twice for the same comp they told me .
not knowing the rules on h/caps back then [still not 100% now]i wouldnt know if i was being shafted or let off

30 to 18 after the first medal I played as a junior

1st handicaps are always dodgy, cannot recall what happened after that but i ended the year on 12

You get cut on both rounds (the second cut being worked out from your 1st round adjusted hc) but play off your original handicap for both rounds.

No idea what the system was back then though.

Back then you got cut 3 full shots for every stroke under net par, with no chance of going back up until the next season, even then it was a big maybe.

In 1982 i was cut from 18 to 12, for scoring 2 net under par, when i came 2nd in the Shotts gc away open.

Had a natter with the club pro today and he was telling me he hasten having lessons since he started. It was mentioned his hcap will drop even further before the end of the year the way he is playing.

Started again after a few years out. In at 26. Played first comp a couple months later. Dropped me to 14 straight away. That was 2 months ago. I'm keeping my cards to myself now until next comp 😈

I dont have an Golf handicap as I am not a club member, I have played about 20 rounds of golf in my life and 4 just recently after over a decade away from the game.
I played 9 holes on the Alto Golf front nine today in Portugal and shot 45 strictlt scored as its a 36 par that was 9 over.
I birdied the first and made par on 3 other holes they were 2 par 5s and a tough par 4 but took a 7 on the par 4 second hole after an adventure in the trees and later took a 6 on a long par 3 after leaving my tee shot just short and blading my attempted flop shot over the green and chipping back close only to foolishly 3 putt, lol.
I was thinking about getting a Golf handicap online then if I wanted I could play some other courses here in the Algarve that require proof of it and it would give me a challenge to try to get it down.
Has anyone else obtained a golf handicap this way?
