Anyone recommend a good place to buy a bog standard 12' decent one-piece aluminium ladder online that they will deliver in less than a week for under £100? Just for the odd job at home.

Do telescopic ones last, they look useful re storing but to me look like they'll fall to bits especially under my weight! Am I right or wrong on that?

That does not matter if you are using it at home ;-)

It does as my dad found out!

Bought some loft ladders that were meant to be ok for what he wanted, one day half way up them they gave way and swung underneath him and he was lucky not to fall 20ft over the stairs.

Turned out the company had sold them under false information and they wern't suitable

He should have took them to court and claimed a fortune off them but he is too nice for his own good at times.

Having fallen out of the loft due to a dodgy ladder, buy a good one, and avoid the injury. I feel lucky to have escaped with the minor injuries I had. It didn't feel that way at the time. For a couple of months I was proper busted, but it could have been way worse.

Don't skimp, a good ladder is a fair investment.

I wouldn't like to recommend a cheap ladder. You're best to buy the best you can afford that is fit for purpose.

Do you have a step ladder, or would you need one in the future, maybe consider a combi-ladder. Like others have said, you're not covered by H&S legislation working at home. You are also responsible to check that ladder you buy are fit for the purpose you intend to use them. If you fit it wrong or choose the wrong ladder and injure yourself or another person it is your responsibility not the company that sells them.

Good look. Youngmans do a good selection from home use to commercial quality.

The last time I had a ladder in my tights I just used a bit of clear nail varnish and it stopped it in its tracks, great tip!
