What is this BBC 2 you are all talking about?
You need to get ‘tuned in’ to Radio 6 Music. I’ve made some great musical discoveries over the years listening to it. Better than listening to the same old stuff on R2 that I can get on any of the Smooth, Heart or Greatest Hits stations.I'm sure I'm like many and his show is now the only BBC radio I listen to. BBC2 will be out of my car favourite stations when he goes.

You don’t get to know stuff until you hear it ?. Most of the presenters have little segments where listeners can phone in their music favourites, and the presenters don’t just play what might be deemed ‘esoteric’ or. ‘niche’ music. I often find myself listening to something and thinking - wow I like that. I go look it up and listen to more. So for instance…from yesterday morning. It's tricky because I like to sing along in the car so not keen on stuff I don't know...
???I thought he would leave last year , looks like I'm one year out

Love Liza T but can't see her wanting to do a daily show where she has to follow a set playlist. If you listen to her 2 hours per week on a Saturday you get an idea how much love she puts into the selection of the music.Saw on Twitter Liza Tarbuck's name mentioned as a replacement? It is only Twitter so baseless but would prefer her or Gary Davies as was suggested earlier rather than another Scott Mills

My mother listening to Jimmy Young on R2 in the seventies put me off the station for life. Never listened to it since. But have loved R4 ever since I went to Uni.
With the forced departure of Steve Wright in the afternoon following the appointment of new management brooms, I think Ken saw the writing was on the wall and jumped before he was pushed.
Ok I get the age demographic thing, Radio 1 for the kids up to 35, radio 2 for the over 35’s and there will be many tuning into radio 2 from the crossover group who want a more upbeat club like vibe.
But there are many in their 50/60/70 + who feel that R2 is changing and leaving them out, with nowhere BBC for them to go.
I’m out in cars most of the day, and always have the radio on, but these days it’s mostly R2 ( am after Zoe) Heart 70’s / 80’s
Haven’t quite made it to Boom Radio territory yet although @chrisd loves it ?

Only listen to R2 when Fragger is chauffeuring me somewhere.I am over 70 and my place to go is Planet Rock and has been for years occasionally it is Kiss when I am channel hopping in the car.
When I lived in Surrey (and much younger) it was Capital
