..... I find this the hardest thing to do.

In the space of 3.5 years of playing golf, I have come down to a 12 handicap. I'm pretty pleased with this, but want better.

I have had lessons and will continue to do so, on all aspects of my game. However, there is one thing that seems to be holding me back to have a nailed on great swing, and that is the ability to keep my arms straight through impact. My arms seem to collapse, with both elbows breaking to early. I'm focusing and focusing on getting rid of this movement. I'm told my turn is fine and the swing path is very much on the right plane.

Lately I have been using one of these down the range....

So...

I wanted to know if anyone else has been through this journey, how you overcame it ?

Particular swing thoughts ?

Training aids ?

Routines ?

Thanks.

I can't offer advice on your specific problem, but I DO have a powerband thingummyjig. I like it. Don't know what it does, but after a while with it, I feel more connected and hit it better.

Personally I don't believe in that at all, it might just be my own way of thinking but (as an example) I can't see David Toms getting away with wearing that and I'd trade his swing for mine tomorrow given the chance...

I see it as a training aid that might help you slightly if only to make you more aware of the mechanics of your own swing. If you tie your ankles together you can work on your balance whilst your at it

There is/was some theory about Hogan inverting his elbows and then keeping his forearms as close together as possible as if they were tapped together, yada yada... he always fought a hook anyway :D :D LOL

Considering that we are all different shapes and sizes, what works for one person wont necessarily work for another, personally i go with what works for me.

Yes, I agree we all have different swings, no problem with that.

But look at any good golfer, I suggest single figures and better. They all continue the in to out swing with extention in their arms rather than a collapse.

I'd stick with it if you are finding some improvement. Looks good for practicing some kind of 9-3 half-swing drill.

That is exactly its purpose. I guess the theory is that if you get this into the 'muscle memory' the rest will follow !
