Just paid the skycaddie subs

Have had lasers, Garmin & now on a Skycaddie Aire - all have their merits, but something small and simple (!) suits my needs fine at the minute.
Have had terrible trouble with Skycaddie trying to get them to update the map database on the Aire though. They have (finally) mapped my local course & advised that it would be available for use as of last November - I still can't download it for the Aire! Anyway, after a lot of toing and froing, I have to say that Skycaddie have provided an acceptable solution, they have agreed to swap my Aire for a new Watch (which will have the updated map packs). Seems like pretty good customer service.
The only reason I went back to a Skycaddie was the fact that the courses have been "walked" and that the new sport models don't charge an annual fee - I wouldn't be using them if I had to pay for the data.

I have an Aire also and have found it to be brilliant. No fees but with Skycaddie accuracy and updates, win/win. I broke the clip that holds it in place on the carabina clip (totally my fault) and Skycaddie sent me a new one FOC in 2 days. No complaints from me.

I paid mine back in February and took out the £35 subs as I was off to Turkey on a golfing break in March, and wanted to use it out there. I've never worried about the subs as I think it's the best GPS on the market and £35 across the golfing year is only a box of pro v's.

On another note, our course changed 3 years ago with a new 13th hole being built. Sky caddie updated within months, but I played with a fella last week who's GPS hadn't been updated yet (not sure what he had). I'm sure a lot of GPS companies rely on google earth for their mapping so they can only update to the latest satellite images.

A GPS is no better, might tell you the distance but doesn't tell you where to hit it if you can't see the green

Just renewed my SGX and they've changed the plans by the look of it.

I have worldwide subscription on mine as I play out the country a bit and it costs £41 I think rather than £30. But this year I get a dozen bridgestone balls (e6's which are about £20) and I can register upto 3 devices under the one subscription. I've got an old SG2.5 as a backup, so can add that on for nothing and lend it to one of my m8's to use

Just thought I'd update - new Skycaddie Watch arrived by UPS today. Charged it up, sync'd and downloaded the map update & lo & behold my home course is now available to use.
Excellent from Skcaddie in the end - just a pity it took so long to get a working device.
