Just in case

Tough course.
I played it in a two day corporate event. Unfortunately I visited the "Bel Air" nightclub the night before, the Chippendales were on, and the place was heaving...
Got into bed at 5.00am, had to be on the tee just after 9 and proceeded to score seven (yes seven) Stableford points over the 18 holes.

How far is the 10th from the tees they'll be playing from, and is it the same line ie. hit a fade to avoid the trees?

Its about 220 to get over the water and 235 to the front of the green, and yes, you need to fade it coz the trees are tall

i hit a 6 iron and wedge (played safe) and ended up in the bunker at the right of the green.

You cant see it in the pic but they have 3 bunkers running down the right hand side of the green so too big a fade will find them.

To be fair, that picture makes it look a lot more daunting than it is, you can see a lot of the green from the tee. But when you're stood on the tee it looks an awful lot longer than 230yds!!!

We all had a go at it, I had the perfect line but dropped about 20yds short into the drink, that was before I learned how to use my driver properly though.

I'd love a go at it now ;)

I think that hole isn't too difficult if you play it as a par 4 and lay up, it can get a bit messy though if you choose to go for it.

Take note of the small hut in the bottom right hand corner, plenty of refreshments but not cheap.

what time do they start to tee off?

I hit a 5 iron left of the bunkers, stuck it on the green and 3 putted... :(

What the hole needs is a special tee for short-hitting square driver users. Since square drivers only go straight, this'll do nicely.

I still dont think i'd take it on with your new tee!

Saying that, driving isn't s strong part of my game so thats probly why. However give me a wedge and i'll stick it close...... or in the bunker as the case may be.

Maybe but I'm sure someone did it in the RC. Chipped/pitched up from the lower level.

Peter Alliss was not impressed (as only he can be!)

I believe it was Phil Mickleson in 2002 - and yes, he took a lovely divot lofting a wedge to the back of the green from the front!

Calc wedged it at St Andrews.

Today I went for the green with the driver, after swishing a rescue and then deciding not to be a wet blanket.

Instead of my usual fade, I get the once a year draw, which left me pin high on the left. My pitch on hit a tree, and splashed into the stream. Penalty drop, chip on, one putt, 5 for two. Not sure laying up would have been any better.
