Just said id start a different thread rather than hijacking someone else's.

Ever getone of those rounds that no matter what you seem to do you just can't get into second gear.
When I woke this morning albeit after a pretty crappy night's sleep id an inkling that it was gonna be one of them days.

And hit was it. No disrespect to anyone off 26 but I don't even think I looked like a 26 handicapper this morning let alone a 6...

Somehow I always seem to struggle this time of year with soft conditions. Similar to some racehorses I suppose. 😀
Anyway.. what made me laugh was I went out with 7 balls and lost 6😂😂😂😂

The bag was grand and light coming home for all the wrong reasons.
My normal fade had turned into a 2 way miss with the driver . (Not Good)😨
I might as well have had a shovel in my hand instead of my irons and if I can take any positives at all away from the round it is that I chipped well and my putting was aggressive and took the lines exactly as I saw them but I missed a pile.

I've learned over the past few seasons that the worst thing I can do is get critical and over analyse me game. That's a no no.

Has the game ever made you look completely the opposite of your handicap?
BTW I'm actually amused as I write this. The days of beating the beejeesus out of myself are a thing of the past.

Cheer up matey. I set a personal low (21 points) today and from the opening tee shot OOB it was a mess. Happy at the present time to be out and playing and not too stressed about scores or handicap cuts.

Ah.. I'm not too bothered Homer. I'm actually in good form..
I know what I can play like. It just surprised me at times that I can plate up a mess like I did today.

It's funny though how your swing can just disappear.
I know in my case it's all down to timing. Plus my distances are a bit all over the place at the moment. They've gone up at least half a club over the winter from last summer. I started a bit of a home exercise plan just after Christmas. Nothing crazy just sit ups and press ups but I feel like I might have messed up the swing a little In doing so.
In a way it's nice but it's a pain at times.

Happened plenty of times - just forget it and move on to the next round - just don't over analysis it and go over each shot - it will tie you in knots

It's a stupid game. Hit it ok yesterday and not today. Tried the same and thought it felt the same. Onwards and upwards and hopefully a few holes midweek to enjoy. Next round is always going to be "the one"

Know exactly how you feel. Haven't in a flush iron in yanks. Could barely find the driver face a few weeks ago. Even when I do the drives are going nowhere.

Only thing saving me is chipping and pitching.

Irons are full on fats. Can't hit a draw for love nor money. Crazy since I used to hit big slinging hooks with every club in the bag.

After last winter I had a wild dose of the sh##ks so at least it hasn't got that bad.

Funny old game, shot my handicap today which is better than most.

Don't talk to me about the shanks pal.
That's what made me go back to the date. I never got them until I went for the lessons and the pro has me trying to draw the ball. I went through about 18 months of army golf and there was a 10 round period where I shanked the same iron (4) off our 4th tee every single week. I nearly threw in the towel.

I'm kind of in that no mans land again where I can have my playing partners looking at me watching me play like a scratch golfer on one hand and on the other scratching their head a wondering how I can top a ball with a 3 wood after nailing that same club for the past 3 or 4 shots... 😂😂😂
I guess it's all part and parcel of getting consistent. You have to take the good with the bad.

I was wondering this just last week and considering whether I felt more inclined to get back out on the course after a bad round or after a good one. Surprisingly I think I'm more eager to return to the course after a bad round - I want to get out again and prove it was a one off. After a good round I'm happy to bask in the glow of the good shots for a week!

I am giving it another month and a few range sessions before I seek professional help.

I must also take some videos of my swing as I have no idea what I am currently at. Won't be pretty. Never has been though.

Done with all that pal. I get way to technocal when that happens. I cant play with freedom at all and i feel like im forcing it into certain positions.

Don't want that.😊

Yup - the feeling that you've only been dreaming that you can play the game OK - when in fact you're actually just a struggling beginner with aspirations, hope but not much of a swing.
