Joining a new club

The pin position on the 1st can be a bugger John, and it's a very shallow green.A deceptively tough opener. Some of the par 3's are brutal too, the 4th in particular if it's into the wind.

Before joining I was a member at Royal Musselburgh, I found my handicap bore no resemblance once I moved to KA, a much harder track.

As for the swans, my mate had to take a one stroke penalty the other week as his ball was in the bunker with mum and one of her bairns, the swan was not for moving and my pal shat himself and took a drop!

The members are going to love you when you shoot gross 72 off a 14 handicap!

You're too good for 88, what are you doing wrong? Just rusty?

Surely they'll take into account your old handicap when giving you a new one?

I think he's setting us all up for Goswick, but the first will sort him out :p

What a difference a day makes!

Played at Kings Acre again today with my two regular playing partners in the blazing sunshine. Put in my 2nd card, off the yellow tees this time. Couldn't have been more different from yesterday. A 75 today. 5 over.

Flushing most of my drives AND irons. Hit 9 out of 12 fairways. 14 out of 18 greens. 37 putts. 2 birdies, 11 pars, 4 bogies and a treble.

So 2 rounds in so far. 18 over and 5 over. Does that make me 11.5?

I'm very confident my 3rd round will be somewhere between a 70 and 100. In fact I'll take bets on it.

Hi John, I'm pretty sure that it's the best card out of the 3.

The CONGU site seems to back it up.

CONGU

Are you looking forward to Dundonald on Tuesdat ? I hope the weather holds up.

Cripes Iain. That comes as a shock. Time will tell. I'm wanting to get my 3rd card in sharpish so that I've got a handicap to play off at Goswick. Not playing at Dundonald, mate. Turns out I'm working in the evening. Could only play the morning round so I'm bumped.

You kidding, Ivan? I don't know what I'm doing from one round to another, man.

Seriously, just so happened I started off with some good hits and got a bit of confidence back. I flushed an 8 iron at one of the par threes to about 6 feet and just repeated that swing feeling the rest of the round. Basically didn't hit a bad shot after that. Some of the drives particularly were some of my best.

Thank god I didn't need to chip or I'd have been 18 over again. 3 of the 4 bogies were three putts.

Lordy. 5. It's just not right.

Hi John - thought you were still at that nice looking place in East Lothian. Sorry if it didn't work out - or just cost too much?
Enjoy the new place - sounds like a good one.

Your right there mate. I shall have to have a word with our captain at goswick. My shoulders are no way broad enough to carry you playing off 5 :D :D :D

Seriously good shooting though

And I thought team mates were there for comfort and support, Stuart!

On a mini roll (remember them?). Played at the Glen today in a howling wind and had 4 birdies (13,14,15 & 18) and 9 pars. 2 bogies. We won't talk about the other holes but at least I broke 80 again....and it's good matchplay.

:D :D
