Its a joke though. Could you imagine saying to a court;- 'Sorry your honour but I cannot attend that day as I am at work so are the witnesses.Could you please arrange it for when its convienient for me'. There must be an international break coming up where it is possible to get all of the witnesses together. Most of the friendlies we play are training exercises and experiments anyway so not selecting some senior members for the team would hardly matter.

True, but we all know that celebrities are treated much much differently from the average Joe on the street. They'll argue that the delay gives them time to arrange for all the "necessary" security etc etc. In reality, they'll all be booked into Babs Hair Salon looking for that extra special pimping of their thinning mane, coupled with a super tropical spray tan. We wouldn't want Heat magazine catching them looking less than perfect would we.
In the real world, it should be: "we think you've broken the law, you'll be in court tomorrow, and then if found guilty, in Strangeways the following day"...And any witnesses should be hauled out of bed and dragged into court kicking and screaming.. Thats the way it would happen to us....If we were arrogant, racist, knuckle dragging fecktards (allegedly)....

I'd have thought the problem has been solved. With the FA stripping him of the captaincy it takes the pressure off Capello to pick him on anything other than form. He has played well the last few games for Chelsea but has been found wanting in the last few England games both competitive and friendly. Personally from a purely football perspective I'd have him in the squad for his experience but there has to be better options out there to start

A question I frequently ask myself about Bubba, I am no fan of the ridiculous pay and celebrity status that surrounds being a mediocre player in the EPL these days but not all golfers are paragons of virtue either. Can you remember the last time an EPL footballer stormed into an awards ceremony and threatened to glass a team mate?

But to the original post - John Terry? no thanks, Lescott can do the job at Centre Half - captaincy back to Gerrard, played in his position rather than moved to make room for Lamptart

Did anyone watch Football Focus on BBC1 today?? John Motson got very heated when asked his opinion on the matter. He stated that Capello only has himself to blame as he already stripped Terry of the Captaincy only to give it back to him. If he'd left well alone the decision to strip him of the Captaincy again wouldn't have been needed. He also stated that if he (JM) or anyone else employed by the BBC was involved in a similar case there's no way in hell that the case would be delayed. He then went on to lambast "arrogant" football players. It was very interesting to see a 'football' man in this type of tirade.

I really don't like Terry. I know someone who was in the same youth team as him at Chelsea and he really isn't a very nice individual. I hope he gets his just rewards in July!! :eek:
 
I don't really know the guy but I'm inclined to not invite him to tea. I just hope that justice is done for both parties. I'd guess the CPS had a) no choice but to prosecute or be seen a favouring him b) the evidence must be pretty concrete from what is so obvious on the VT.
 
For something which at most has what, 4 witnesses, all of which are known, and most of the evidence on tv, what the heck takes so long? Don't get it.

I agree.

Terry is an absolutely horrendous individual.

I also feel sorry for Anton Ferdinand. He's got this hanging around for much longer than is necessary.

Gerrard? are you joking?. Will he even be fit for the Championship or be injured again?. I know he is young but I would like to see Joe Hart be the captain.
 
This is the same gerrard who punched a dj who would not put his choice of music on. It was all there on CCTV. But, the case was held on Mersey side. Hold that case in London, he is going down. I have no space for him in my team either. Nor cole (wife cheater, many times) ferdinand (drug cheat), Defoe (obscene acts out side a school), terry ( racist, womaniser, and all round tosser). Heck, I'm not sure I'd have any footballers in my team.

To add a bit more fuel to the fire, Capello is saying JT is still his captain as far as he is concerned. This is gonna get ugly!
