has died aged 83 ,four time 500cc motorcycle world champ and a Formula 1 champ for Ferrari, a legend of motor racing .

Would imagine if that was to happen in the modern sporting world he would quickly be labelled a legend and become very rich.
Seen some of the old footage of them racing and it was truly scary, both as a driver and spectator.

Remember watching a programme where Paul Hollywood met him. Came across as having great mechanical knowledge, retaining a wonderful love of and enthusiasm for his sport despite his family tragedy and having no airs & graces. As has been said the only person to win World Championships on two and four wheels, a feat that will never be repeated. The word legend is bandied about far too lightly these days, but he truly merited its use.

Would he rather be a racing legend and double world champion or a sir? I think plain old Mr Surtees, racing legend will do nicely.
