I recently found out that Jamie spence is one of my schoolmates dad !
What do you think of him ? I've seen him many times on sky sports and think he's okay, but was he a good golfer ?

I used to play football with Jamie. Nice guy. Played for Rusthall FC just outside of Tunbridge Wells.
Very down to earth.

He won the Alfred Dunhill at St Andrews for England when it was a team event in the early 90's with Steve Richardson and David Gilford. Think he also won a couple of individual events.

He was in the year above me at school in Tunbridge Wells and also a member of my first golf club - The Nevill.
Good bloke - use to have a renowned short game and putting stroke. Won twice on tour - the first one at Crans sur Sierre where he shot a final round 12-under par 60 to storm past Monty, Anders Forsbrand and others. His second win was in Morocco, I think in 1999. Had a half-decent chance of making the Ryder Cup team in 1993 I think, but got disqualified from a tournament he was leading in Italy when still in with a shout of making the tean for taking a wrong drop - got 'shopped' by some TV viewer!

Could possibly be described more as a journeyman than a top notch player, but extremely erudite and always talks a lot of sense. Also not afraid to tell it as it is - my kind of guy.
