Midweek Stableford Rollup this morning, just Imurg & myself, Im feeling up for it, got 40 points last time out, hoping to repeat it with a card in ones hand.

Started OK with 7 points from 3 holes, then I started finding the rough with my drives, The rough at our place is really penal, so a lost ball on the 4th, blob on the 5th, in total the last 6 holes on the front yeilded 6 points for 13 on the front

Imurg meanwhile was playing really well, had 19 points for the front and he continued that into the first 3 holes of the back 9 scoring 8 including a birdie for 4 points at the 11th, i had started in similar fashion to the front with 7 points from the same 3 holes . so the scores at this point were 21-27 in Imurgs favour.

Then on the 13th (par 5) he hooks his drive deep into the fescue, result one lost ball, I slam a 250 yard drive straight down the middle and a regulation birdie for 4 points helps the situation.

Later on the 16th his drive goes right behind a tree, his second shot hits said tree and must have evaporated as it was never seen again, a blob ensues and he is losing the will to live.

On the 17th he managed a nice hook into the woods and another lost ball

To cut a long story short, I had 22 points on the back to his 14 and beat him 35 to 33.

51 out, 41 in for 92 firmly in the buffer, that 41 is a PB for the back 9

I just wish I could have played like that all the way round

Imurg has gone off to commit Hari Kari

By far and away the most disappointing 33 points I've ever scored.
19 out - +2 gross, a birdie on a shot hole to be +1 after 12....
And then, implosion.......
Scrambled points on 13 and 14, made a good par on 15.
16 just knocked the wind out completely.
OK I hit a poor drive towards trees on the right - but I had line of sight to the pin, I got a laser read to it.
The 3 wood clipped a tree and just disappeared - not a clue where it went. Cue a blob.
The head was spinning - anger, frustration so a hook to more clag followed - another lost ball and another blob.
Got my head together and only just missed a birdie on the last.
Ahhhhh!!!!!!

This bloody game!

Credit to Fragger for a sumptious back 9 but questions have to be asked about the front 9 performance - maybe a spot of handicap protection going on? Some might say so but, of course, I couldn't possibly comment.....

Bill Hooks... I think I was just trying too hard.
after the front 9 i relaxed, knowing I wasnt going to be in contention and def going up .1

maybe I should take that mental attitude with me
