If I am working in MSword and happen to copy and paste a phrase or sentence in that document it works fine and I either leave that open reduced or shut it down when finished working.

However when I then go online onto any search engine like IE8 or whatever that same phrase or sentence I pasted earlier in Word automatically appears in the search box of the internet search engine page like Google every time I open a new window in IE8 until I log off or shut down. Only then does it stop pasting next time I fire up the laptop. Only does this on my home laptop.

Really annoying, anyone know how to sort that, what box to check or the like? :(

These accelerators are available on many different browsers but basically they cache info and tweak settings to make the broswer seem like it is running faster.
You could go into the advanced program settings via internet options and see if either of the two resets works.
