3 wins is a great achievement, but he simply can't be regarded as back to his best until he wins a major. The question was "is Tiger back?" He's back playing golf, and he's back winning, but he's not back winning the big events that everyone thought he'd win whenever he was in the field. He used to win smaller events on the PGA tour for fun and it was expected and NOT news. Now, because he went a way for a year because he messed up his marriage and his knee, and he's winning those events again, he's now the next coming of...er..Tiger Woods. :D

The same argument would be on the table had Rory won the same "small" events and was started to be heralded as "The next Tiger" again. You'd get the usual Rory bashers giving it the whole "Er...it wasn't a world class field" argument.

When (if?) he wins his next major, he's back to his best.

You are contradicting yourself there. Yes the question was is he back not is he back to his best.

IMO opinion the poll questions are not the right ones when it comes to Tiger. Is he back? Well the answer is an emphatic 'YES' as he's had three wins on tour this season already and is playing very good golf.

Is he back to his very best? No, because at his very best Tiger was regularly winning Majors, and winning tour events by significant margins. At the moment he is one of about one of half a dozen or so very good players who you expect to be challenging week-in, week-out; as such he is winning some, and falling away in others.

Will he get back to his very best? Who knows - only time will tell. The signs are there that he is working his way back to his best, but ultimately will his best be good enough in the future? The game moves on and time stands still for no man and there are so many talented guys coming through who are hungry for success and Majors and it may mean that their desire for success, together with their ability, is the equal of, or greater than, Tigers.

We shall see what happens over the next few years - it will certainly keep us all interested!

Coming to this a little late in the game, but, I think that IMO he is back, because I am once again finding him interesting to watch, however, I could do without the hissy fits etc. when things aren't going his way.

I can understand that there are those of us who love him, and those of us who aren't so keen, but it's really god to see all the differences of opinion, and those opinions that are stated as fact ;)

Would be great to see him win another major, but was discussing this with some colleagues today, and would be nice to see one of the European lads win it... Especially one of 'our lads' :-)

Better spelling and grammar in this post :D

But the point remains the same and I concur.

Would be awesome to see Tiger put in just one GOOD YEAR and grab the next 4 majors.....

...pull yer finger out man!

Even the haterest(?) of Tiger haters would have to bow to the awesomeness.

but I have to say, I'd really love to see Westwood win a major, then he could officially be crowned as Britain's best golfer and do what Monty could never do. Craw would HATE it! :D

I voted not quite. Yes it is a great achievement to beat Jack's record and win three times in a season but to my mind he won't be back until he is contention in majors right up until the closing holes on Sunday. He's getting there and getting closer and I don't know about the Open but have a sneaky feeling about him for the USPGA

I say 5 victories this year, including a major and playing a massive part in the Ryder Cup (5 pts).

Oh and probably win the Fed ex as well.

Thats a yes from me.
