Is spelling and grammar important to you?

Is it right that half of Liverpool can't read, half can't write and the other half can't count?

could never do fractions .....

lets c 3 halfs make a whole ....no weight that must be one of those top heavy thingies .....

wait Im from the north end ...its the south end that are thick :D

Oh God, not this old chesnut again? You're really getting some mileage out of it Bobmac.

I couldn't give a flyin' feck if someone can't spell, can't type, can't read or can't operate an iPhone, it's all cool by me as I realise the world is made up of many different people... whatever next? skin colour?

It has been quite some years since some of the people on here attended school. Not everyone on here is an academic and left school at 16 without a high level of education. People working in a manual labour job do not require to write with perfect spelling and grammar everyday like a solicitor would. So like anything in life if you do not use a skill you will loose it.

Put it another way, if you only picked up a golf club once in a blue moon and hit a couple of balls would you still be able to do that to the same level?

If I cn reed n undertand a pst thn duz it matr if it is not dun wit perfect splling n grmmr

Found this easier to read/comprehend than any text message...

Spelling and grammar are very important to me.

OK, we all spell the odd word wrongly from time to time but that's OK. Some of the spelling, grammar and punctuation on here is, at times, appalling. If you're going to write a rant/story then make sure it's got commas and full stops otherwise it becomes machine gun reading!!

Having said that, if the post is written too poorly then I simply don't read it..

No - but people from Crawley should be banned!

And Millwall fans.

And Brighton fans

And Scottish people.

And anyone with a silly accent.

And anyone who supports Labour.

And anyone who supports the LibDems.

Anyone who likes NDubz.

And anyone who plays PING.

And anyone who drives the ball further than 300 yards.

Excellent, I could read both of your posts fairly easily. I think it's mostly down to pattern recognition.
Unfortunately we often get this and worse offered up in reports that are sent to customers.

We also get kids in for work experience. After one year group had been through my boss sent a letter to their school saying that they and we were wasting our time as their standard of English was appalling. In my view, the way in which English has been taught has been cheating our children.

Well said Steve!
The gist of it is, on a golf forum it doesn't really matter about spelling mistakes or bad grammar.
In life it does matter. The inability to spell, construct a sentence or indeed do basic arithmetic without the use of a calculator, does close doors by potential employers.
