Is Loyalty Overrated?

My loyalty has swayed from here to there depending on whether it works for me or not. I've got a feeling i'm going to be very loyal to my Titleist 906F4 woods for a while - only ones I can consistantly use well, same goes for my Ping wedges. The irons - Cally X20 Tour - no reason to change them until they wear out and by then something much newer will be here. Putter - happy with my Odyssey No 5 White hot tour. So really only the driver left and the R9 is as good as anything I've used in the last few years so it's in the bag.
Will I change manufacturer ever? Probably. So no real loyalty at all.

I am a Ping whore!!!!

I have just ordered new Ping irons and have a Ping driver as well as a Ping cart bag and Ping hoofer carry bag. I also have Ping accessories, brolly, practice ball bag, mitts, wooly/fleece hats etc.

I am even stalking a Ping rapture 3 wood on ebay as I type this.

Other than that, I aint really brand loyal!

I don't really have an all round favourite, I have a set of mizuno iron/rescue combos and a mizuno bag but I dont think I'd ever go for a mizuno driver. I love Ping putters, Taylormade woods and Callaway drivers so I suppose I'm a real all rounder!

Loyalty is not overrated.
Loyalty should only ever be given to something deserving of your loyalty, this can be for numerous reasons.
If a golf club does not deserve your loyalty, dont offer it.
If your club offers you something that you feel you should remain a part of, then thats where loyalty should lie and has value.

In a word, yes. That may seem strange given that I'm playing nearly all Callaway gear, but this is the first time I've ever had matching irons & woods - it just so happens that I hit them better than the others I tried. I've owned irons from Ping, Titleist and Mizuno, drivers from TaylorMade, MacGregor and Ben Hogan, and wedges from Titleist and Mizuno. So I'm not afraid to mix and match, and if (okay, when) I decide to try out some new clubs in the future, I'll be keeping an open mind.

I've never really been into brand loyalty too much, but I am becoming a bit of a Callaway addict after falling in love with their irons. I have preconceptions about some brands which don't really make much sense, I wouldn't play Cleveland irons but have one of their hybrids which is excellent. If I was looking for new clubs, I'd probably only look at Cally, Titleist and Srixon

My first proper set of clubs were Callaway X20's, and my mate used to be a callaway staff player so I was always very loyal to them. I tried a set of mizuno irons and things changed....fast. I got fitted at mizuno with an open mind and ended up with 52's. I dont think I will change them for a long time and if i did it would almost certainly be for another set of mizunos. Not through loyalty, through class. I think Titleist would be the only brand that could sway me!

As my signature states I'm a bit of a TM whore but been out today hitting the Ping I15 and that may be changing very soon. Lovely club, and not as ugly as the standard G15. I managed to hit the 7 iron about 150 with a much higher flight than my TM's. Even the 3 irons were pure. Not a club I'd have seriously thought about before. I'm going to wait for my pro to get the new Titleists in (another brand I'd have avoided before because of historical pre-coneceptions) and try those. I must admit AG also have the X20 and X22 pro versions in and had I had more time would have given them a go too.
