• We'd like to take this opportunity to wish you a Happy Holidays and a very Merry Christmas from all at Golf Monthly. Thank you for sharing your 2025 with us!

Is it you?

Could be me although can let things slide if they're not important. I'm used to check all the company literature, website etc etc for accuracy so I don my trusty anorak and enjoy the challenge...have to find something wrong!!

It must be Which Tyler - leader of the 1381 Pedants' Revolt.

Can't remember his Forum name though.

Not in everyday life I'm not but at work I have to be pretty pedantic right down to 0.003% as that can be the difference between certifying a process as 6Sigma or not.

Not good enough for anyone in IT processing 25M banking transactions a day. That means up to 750 could go wrong each day, which is certainly unacceptable!

IT encourages pedantry.

Why do you ask Bob?

I always remember my introduction to quality management.
The lecturer said hands up those who think getting it right 999 times out of 1000 is good enough.
All those in the room put their hands up except me.

He then said, would those who had their hands up then accept 1 in 1000 babies being dropped by the midwife at childbirth.

Erm yes, thats why I would be pedanticsbout what mightseem inconsequential to most managers.
The difference between 230 DPMO and being able to certify 3.4 DPMO is a goodreason to be patiently pedantic about 0.003%. Not sure the point you were making but its not just IT that 5S wouldnt be acceptable at.
Oh and in banking 5S is actually considered quite acceptable... Scary but true.
