• We'd like to take this opportunity to wish you a Happy Holidays and a very Merry Christmas from all at Golf Monthly. Thank you for sharing your 2025 with us!

Is it you?

OK, I will come out and put forward 'Foxy' as the Forum king of Pedants. Now I will insist I am correct unless someone can produce evidence to the contrary. :p

I'd feel no shame if that was to be the case!

Better to be a bit pedantic and accurate than just be 'sound-bite-ish' and wrong/mis-leading imo!

A somewhat Mathematical background, Hockey and Tennis Umpiring (both to/for a fairly high standard) and working in IT rather encourages pedantry!

The deceit involved in Sales/Marketing (or Management) was never something that appealed to me! Though as a Hockey player, I was happy to cheat (not Tennis though).

Too much twaddle that can turn into Myths on here at times!

Speaking of pedantic..I must send my email about CSS Calc (possible) anomoly!

Oh. And I'm prepared, if maybe not 'happy', to admit when I'm wrong! No fragile ego in that regard!

6S could be used to identify the problem with your game (identify variance for example) and provide solutions in order to fix any issues. Actuallh carryinv out the fixes in the correct manner is, however, your responsibility not the mehodology's.

Fox and greigin, its great being able to accept the very minimal error, but to be pedantic even those are too many. I think either get it perfect or dont bother. :D

1. I'm not sure why you included me as a 'target' of your post - Why did you?
2. I disagree. The cost of zero errors can be very high - often/normally unacceptably so. Of course the cost of errors can be very high too, so they need to be mitigated.

Motor Industry is a classic example. Toyota have their 'normal' brand that has certain tolerances that are acceptable. And Lexus, which as well as being more luxurious (that's not necessarily Quality) has better tolerances.

IT also has the concept. If every last error had to be fixed before being released, it's unlikely any reasonably sized project would be released! Obviously there's an associated risk - and a risk of unidentified errors as well. But that's all part of a 'Quality Management system' (QMS).

And I think 6S is somewhat sightly different - Proprietary? I believe a QMS could still be applied on top

I think either get it perfect or dont bother. :D

Surgery - on many things really. But Brain Tumours and Heart work are the obvious ones where there is a risk that an error could be catastrophic - but is measurable, mitigated and agreed!

Allergic reactions to drugs shouldn't stop those drugs being used.
