Is a 60degree lob wedge too much?

Got the one in my sig off ebay for £27 Bargain!!!!

I used to use it from anywhere within 60 yards and try to stop it stone dead.

Now the only time I ever use it is when I am going over a hazard or out of the rough!

I have one and love it. only problem now is since I changed my kit I have a 58* sand wedge so thinking og a 62*.

I always play mine with soft hands and no glove

I find my hands crack and go a little hard when I dont use a glove,

Whats the secret Vig? Nivea? :D

Good for you mate. Go and experiment with it.

Guess I'll see you in a couple of weeks time with it then?

Well hapless you may see it get launched in to the thick stuff if i'm not having any joy..... just joking i've never been a club thrower.

Looking forward to meeting all the forumers and putting faces to names. What could be better than a day off work playing golf for free??? not sure theres much that comes close

I don't use a glove when playing the "touch " shots and putting otherwise "glove on".

I've had my problems with cracked skin but that's not for publishing :o

Have to say I tried carrying a 52, 56 and a 60 degree wedge (hybrid made way for the extra wedge) and to be honest the 60 degree only got used in the main because I felt obliged to use it as it was in the bag. I am not reliable with it on the course and for my skill level high flop shots are at best a 50/50 option.

I have been known to try tehm in bounce games at weekends especially by opening my 56 and from light rough and when they work they are great. When you have to pick your bag up and walk across the green and the next tee where the group in front are playing after sculling it makes the shot a bit of a liability.

I agree with the comments about imagination and shot making but I can use my 52 and 56 perfectly well and see and execute much better that with the wedge. I try and be more imaginitve by using other clubs around the green for playing chip shots with a lower difficulty tarrif but greater reward.

Minty, I got one for 6 quid from jjb to try out, its in my garage as I never found any real benefit or use for it and it just made my bag heavier. It worked ok but not for me, it all depends on how you get on with one but its worth £6 to try. lol

I've got two Vokeys: 52deg and 60deg in addition to std PW (48deg) and SW (56deg).

The 52deg gets used more than the rest put together and is an essential piece of kit. The 60deg can be very useful: a full shot goes approx 60yds and stops dead, but it is much easier to duff a shot with the 60deg.

Is it too much? No, it just requires more practice than other wedges.

Got to agree with SS2. My 52 is used more than any other club, except the putter. Be it for pitching, chipping etc.

I used to use the pw for such things, but found that the run off was just a little too much.

Got to agree with both of you. My 52 is my saviour, especially since discovering I had a 45 PW :)

Just like my set of clubs still cnt make my mind up to get either a 50* or 52*

I went with 52 to keep the 12 (approx) yard distance between SW and GW. Also a perfect GW goes 99 yards, which is a freaky but useful distance.
If I have 105 yds to go, I'll go up to the PW....and pray!

with a highly variable short game, I've been chopping and changing which club I use from what distance. Lately I've been using the PW (45) for most things but recently I've found out how to use the 52 even for short stuff but not for anything much over 70 yds.
