Irritating habits

So people wouldn't help others search for a ball if there is a chance of it being lost ?

Yep that's irritating but possibly stronger than that - prob rude as well

Will always search for a ball up to the maximum time allowed regardless of where it is or who's ball it is. Plenty of times have found lost causes and then for the player to recover the situation and carry on.

If someone just stood there watching whilst PPs searched for a ball then that's just pretty poor IMO

I agree.

I once played in a inter club match and my FC said on the 1st "I'll not look for your ball if you hit it in the cr*p, you don't need to look for mine, i'm pretty straight" 3 holes in and he'd lost 2 balls :D

I am just like Smiffy, I will chat on the green or tee but just trudge up on the fairway and away I go.

Someone who says good putt when you lag one up but still have a 3ft left to right downhiller and have to aim it 3 inches outside the cup. People who are not ready to play.

On reflection I like to curse my bad luck and share my woes if i've had a bad round . I try not to be but I'm a bit 'yeah I hit it great but didn't score well' etc etc

If an FC said that to me I'd still help him look for his ball - because that is what you do - up to him if he then doesn't help me look for mine. And I'd make strenuous efforts to find his ball if he said to me to not bother looking for it if it was in deep doggy doo doo land and he expressed a wish to play a provisional or put another ball in play :)

I once played with someone who was constantly telling me how well I hit the ball, whilst I was spraying it everywhere and losing on average a ball every 2 holes

The fact that he was a bandit and had a liberal interpretation of the rules only made it worse.

Smokers who chuck their fag ends on the ground - in denial that fag ends are litter because they are biodegradable.

Players who chuck banana skins and orange peel into places on the course where they remain visible - skins and peel degrade only very slowly

Players walking past and not picking up litter left by others

Coke tins and beer bottles degrade over time too, it just takes longer. Amazing that when they are full, and heavy, they are eminently portable, but once empty cannot be carried to the next bin.

a regular PP of mine will always manage to walk into either me or my trolley while we are walking down the fairway - not just once a round but probably once a hole.
the same guy will, if he tee's off first, hit his shot and walk over to his bag and not watch to keep an eye on anyone else's ball. If i hit first i will always watch everyone tee off in case they cant see where their ball has gone.

I don't understand this.
You've got a 200+ yard walk up the fairway while nobody is playing a shot. Chat then
Why talk on the green when you should all be either taking a putt or shutting up while someone else takes a putt?

I'd be pretty hacked off to be waiting on the fairway while you all finish your chat about last night's football and no-one is doing any putting

I Imagine dear old smiffy would'nt have time to have a conversation between shots up the fairway, he'd be there all day otherwise:rofl:

I don't chat when I should be putting, or when others should be putting.
But I do chat when walking on to the green, or when walking off of it and then towards the tee.
That does it for me.
