Hello good forum buddies! In the spring I am going to Clontarf on the outskirts of Dublin, and I will be taking my clubs. Can any of you good Irish folk advise me as to the best nearby golf course ? Cheers!
;)

If price is no object where do we start Links courses, Nearest Royal Dublin and St Annes u could almost walk to either depending where u are in clontarf then a short drive away Portmarnock old and the Links Portmarnock all worth playing then clontarf golf 27 parkland, Sutton and howth golf clubs, Deer Park would be a cheap option it would be less than 20 in a taxi. I think Clontarf were doing a good early bird this year on teetimes.ie.

As has been said, it's a question of price and transport.
Clontarf is a tight tree-lined parkland course, but it's flat and short.
If you want to play links, Royal Dublin is far superior to St. Anne's - and more expensive. Either way you play on Bull Island which was created thanks to Captain 'Mutiny on the Bounty' Bligh.
Portmarnock Old will set you back a chunk of money but, like Royal Dublin, it has an illustrious history. Be careful what you wear in the clubhouse! They're quite particular.
If you want links, but more casual, Portmarnock Links is the Bernard Langer course and is excellent quality and should only be €40.
Howth GC may be a bit high up and windy/cold, and Deer Park, as mentioned, is cheap.
Sutton is a 9 hole course.

If I still lived up that way I'd meet you for a game, but I reckon your best bets are Clontarf and Portmarnock Links.
