As the thread says on the tin the iPing app and cradle does it work.

Currently swing rebuilding is going well and my long games starting to feel like its getting to a good point. My main struggle in my game is my inconsistent putting so I'll do anything to help it along its way.

Not really heard much about the iPing but the app is free but the cradle is te bit you need to buy. Does anyone have one or used one. Next stop is a v-easy so bob if your reading direct me to the right spot.

I bought one fairly recently, and to be perfectly honest, the jury is still out on it.

It's pretty good for consistency (as it essentially scores you on this), but if you are consistently poor as I am, I'm not too sure how much it helps!

i haven't had the chance to use mine on an actual green yet, but having used it at home it works a treat. if you are constantly missing due to open or closed club face it tells you this so would be good to see the progress. It also does tempo which i thought would be useful for me as i can sometimes get a bit quick in the stroke.

i recon when i can get to use it on a real green that my putting will improve. I also didnt purchase the cradle i just made one out of an old phone case and a small vise grip and some double sided carpet tape. seems to work just as well.

I have both iPing and V-easy. Would say the V-easy will help you to groove a better putting stroke. Teaches you the correct stroke. The iPing really just gives you results on your stroke.

I bought mine and it just sits there as one of those gadgets I never use.

The V-easy helped to take the wrists out of my stroke and showed me how a proper stroke should feel. I found it taught me quite quickly and has helped cut at least a dozen putts a round off.

A good tip my pro gave me for distance control that has helped me alot was to throw the ball along the green towards the hole like you would a lawn bowl. Then try to get that same feel with your right hand in your stroke to get better distance control.

I found even after I had got a good enough stroke to get better lines I was struggling with distance control especially going to different courses with fast greens as my own course has quite slow. It's something I now do with 3 balls on practice greens at away courses.

I would say it certainly works. It doesn't give you instruction on how to make a putting stroke etc. but it does show you where you are going wrong (or right) by providing accurate information on your arc etc. so you can easily see what adjustments you need to make.It also gives you a putting handicap. When I first used it, it gave me a putting handicap of 20.2 which was spooky, as that was my exact handicap at the time. 3 hours on the putting green and my putting handicap was 5.6. Just a shame my actual handicap didn't follow suit! All in all, pretty good for the £19 I paid for the cradle off eBay.

3hrs is alot of time for many of us. That's probably why I don't use mine. V-easy gives you visible benefits in less than 10 minutes.
Not saying the iPing is useless, but the V-easy gives faster results and has other uses, plus was cheaper at the time.

Might give it another play now that my stroke is much better and see what info it gives and what my putting hcap is.
The good thing with the iPing though is that it can suggest what type if putter you need (face balanced or heel/toe) although it only suggests Pings models its easy to check other brands by holding them on your finger a few inches up the shaft from the head.

Right I've decided to order a V-easy and make my own iPing cradle. Having now seen that all it really is, is a half phone case with rubber clamp on back. I reckon that should be easy enough to make with an old phone case and rubber vice clamp from my old mans garage with a bit of no nails to stick the 2 items together

That way I spend money on a decent training aid but get free use of the iPing

I bought the iPing cradle and app, and didn't find it too useful. The app does give you a lot of feedback, but doesn't give you much in the way of how to improve your stroke. I think it gives you great feedback about what the flaws in your stroke are, but not much else.
