iPhone 5? Nope. iPhone 4S

hmmmmmm, sounds promising but a bit too gimmicky maybe?

good to see an improved camera though as iphone is way behind other manufacturers

upgrade due in march so we shall see :) (bet the compass is still on there though grrrr)

Yup, looks good, the talking assistant and camera look excellent, will def upgrade when mine is up, is it March next year?

I'm a huge Apple fan (owning an iPod, iPad and Macbook) and would never buy a PC again but Apple can stick their phone up their arse.

I've not seen any tariffs for it yet, but judging by the current tariffs for the iPhone 4 and even the 3GS, it's going to be horrendously expensive, when in reality I can buy a Samsung Galaxy S2 or HTC Sensation which are both better, more powerful phones for a tariff of £25 a month with a free phone.

I am excited for iOS5 and iCloud though, will make updating the iPad alot easier!

Have to agree with Aztecs to an extent. The Samsung Galaxy S2 looks a fantastic piece of kit with a bigger screen and an SD card slot, both ignored in the iPhone upgrade. But I am a huge Apple fan as their stuff just works....and more intuitively. In a slight quandary but leaning towards the 4S. I can do without that bigger phone and SD card slot for the other benefits.

Im in a similar situation to JF. I am due an upgrade next month and currently have the 3GS but have been looking at Galaxy S2 but now this upgrade has come out, do I stand whatever the extra expense will be and get this, or get the S2 for nothing.
But also I have read recently that the S3 is due out early next year which is going to be even better than the S2:confused:
Also the new I Phone is going to be available in 64gb so not really a need for memory card expansion slot.
aaaggghhh decisions:eek:

Yes, but you'll need to remortgage your house if you want to buy one!

As a "gadget boy" I should be chomping at the bit to get one of these.
But I just can't get on with touch phones. I've just upgraded my old Nokia 6303 and got a Nokia 6700. It's a dinosaur when compared to the Galaxy's and iPhones of this world, but it has a keypad!

not with an upgrade to current package, I've had 3g, 3gs, iphone4 and all for free if you pay monthly, then sell on the 'old' phone which usually pays for 6 mths line rental, no brainer really

Should have jumped on Board from the off from the sounds of it then! Oh well. I refuse to pay the ridiculous line rental prices to incorporate a free phone or actually pay for the handset itself when I can get free phones of equal power without an apple logo for £25 a month.

Far to many sheep on here. I run a 2 year old Google G1. Does exactly what it needs to do. Why do phones have to be status symbols. (This is coming from a Mac fan boy too)

As soon as the rumours hinted that the iPhone 5 will become the iPhone 4S, I knew that I would have to have lower expectations of what will be announced. Just look at the upgrade from the 3G to the 3GS, the upgrade to the 4 to 4S is very similar (Faster Processor, Improved Camera & Longer Battery Life).

As an iPhone 4 owner, I will be sticking with it and not upgrading.

I bought the iPhone 4 outright, so I am not tied into a contract, the upgrade isn't worth the hassle.

Article in todays Daily Mail (page 71 )says the real version 5 is due out on Oct.12

Really disappointed with the announcement. The circumstances were all there for something big, the first product announcement post Steve Jobs, the other manufacturers are chomping at their heels and may have overtaken Apple so here was the chance to knock it out of the park and show they remain top but no, just an upgrade. A lost opportunity to my mind
